ok so i bought my car last oct. and i was thinking my car was lowered. i was wondering, does anyone know the height from the ground to the bottom of the side skirts on a 97 eclipse gs. i put a soda can under it and there was about an inch above it yet if that helps anyone.

best to take off one of your wheels and look at the springs, stockers are black, aftermarket will be a different color depending on the type and could possibly have an aftermarket name on them, like eibachs are red with eibach written on them.

If it's this car:

By that picture I'd say it's got stock springs.

If its lowered, it will be about 4.5 inches of the ground.

Another way to put it, if you can place the cheap red jack under your car, then its stock.

All lowered cars need special jacks or you have to drive the car onto two peaces of wood with towels glued on to them in order to jack up the car with normal jacks.

i find a siccor jack works perfectly for lowered cars, though i just use that to get it high up enough to put a real jack udner it.

^ Without the traction that a towel gives you. The wood blocks will dangerously shoot out from under the car, specially on cement floors. The cement lacks sufficient friction to hold the wood and the spinning tire acts like a baseball pitching machine!

If you glue only one side of the block, put that side, the towel side down onto the cement. The rubber tires will grip the wood without a problem.

Special point, if you are using wood to ease a lowered car up a ramp that is too steep( front spoiler is being crushed or car is bottoming out at top of ramp), then place part of the wood on the ramp and the other part on the cement floor. The angle helps hold the wood in place and you don't need anything special glued to the wood.
