lower controll arm install

I think you should be fine. Make sure you have the right set of wrenches and sockets, a jack, some stands, and a boatload of penetrant (PB blaster). If the bolts are really stubborn, a torch always helps. I'm not sure if it's the same with the 1g but I remember that either my lateral control arm or lower control arm needed a 22mm wrench to remove it. Make sure you have a pickle fork or some other tool to disconnect the ball joint from the knuckle, maybe a replacement ball joint boot and some grease since it's fairly easy to rip them when disconnecting the ball joint. Loosen the nut on the ball joint, disconnect the ball joint, and remove the other bolt that attaches the arm under the car and I think that's about it...

Best bet would be to try and remove it with a hammer, with the notion that the shock of the hammer woulc separate the ball joint. After that, you can always default to a pickle fork. Autozone rents out both pickle forks and ball joint seperators (clamp-like things, they work better than the pickle forks, but I couldn't figure out how to fit mine around the joint without hitting the hub)

do i have to use a pickle fork or can i use a hammer and just tap down on it until it slides of of the knuckle
