Lower Control Arm Stud Keep Spinning with Nut!

Well been struggling with this whole tranny job. Basically almost done and was going to replace my lower control arm since I'm down there..I have done this 5 times and for some reason this time I'm struggling...

The ball joint stud keeps spinning with the nut! I already jacked the ball joint part up and nothing..Dropped all the weight of car on the jack positioned under the ball joing and nothing...Hammered it nothing..It didn't even tighten that much, didn't pass the nylon on the locknut yet either..Anyone have any tips or other ways?!?! So pissed at this!!

Sounds rough, man! Have you tried turning the wheel a bit and then jacking it up under the joint? It puts a lateral load on the parts and might help you get the job rolling again. Good luck!

Jacking it up usually does the trick...

Figured it out on ecmlink forums, you put a wooden block on upper control arm then jack it up so it can put force down onto ball joint! I'm happy again

Glad you figured it out! That's good info, if the spring pressure isn't enough, just use some scrap materials to block the movement of the arm. I dig it.
