 was up guys my car is smoking out the tailpipe. I have a star stage two kit with weisco 8:5:1 pistons and forged h beam rods. I did a compression test and piston 2 is really low like 86 so i think it is the rings i might have leaned out im running 15 pounds of boost. Also im running emanage with 450 inj. and msd for ignition. The question is do i need special rings to fix this problem or can i use stock rings from mits. Also how do i order rings all i know is the block was bored 20 over but they ask for bore size i dont know that.Im just trying to order the parts cause i cant take apart the car right now. also if i really need the bore size how do i check that what tools etc. thanx for your help guys later:mad:

You will need a set of performance ring like Hastings set. The truth is you cant just throw new rings in the motor. You need to pull it apart and see what kind of damage you have now. If your lucky, you cna de-glaze and install new rings but with compression that low, it soulds like you have much more work ahead of you.

thanx terry anyone else i only had the motor rebuilt 1 year ago so i believe its just the rings i hope

The motor was built but what about the head? Is the head rebuilt at the same time or is it an old head from your oem motor? You could just have a bad sealing valve or possibly a bad headgasket.

I'd take the car to a local shop and have a leakdown test done; that way, you'll have a better idea of where you're losing compression. There's no sense in buying parts without knowing the actual problem...

my buddy who built the motor did a leakdown test said its more like the rings had new head gasket also arp head studs head is oem never built but i bought the car at 20000 miles and now have 60000 probably 9000 miles on rebuilt motor also how do i check bore size for rings looks like i need to rip this bi*** apart
