Today after driving my girlfriends car i noticed her VC was leaking so i repalced it when i started the car up their is a loud ticking noise,i dnt know anything about dsm can someone help? the car is a 91 tsi

thanks

There are a couple solutions to lifter tick.

1) Install new 3g lifters. (not lifters out of a 3rd gen eclipse).

2) Use an engine cleaner (I used seafoam and had great results) and change the oil and use Lucas Oil Stabilizer. This process cleared my lifter tick right up. Just be careful using engine cleaner on higher mileage motors. Sometimes the carbon buildup actually creates a seal. Cleaning those out could make your car run worse and leak.

k thanks when can i use the seafoam? since i just changed the oil yestarday would it be ok to just put it in?

- Follow the Seafoam directions if you go that route but their are additives like Marvel Mystery Oil that don't require another Oil change being you just changed it.

k i did some searching and everyone said that dsm have ticking, but this is a much louder ticking than before. The car dnt even idle anymore anyone have any ideas?

- Check the Oil level & check the Filter just in case being you just changed all that - Check the Spark Plugs being you are mentioning Idle problems now too, they can make a tick when loose or dead...
