ok I have a 91 TSI with 119k miles on it.... and it ticks really bad some times... like it is only like 40 degrees out right now and when I start up till it is warm it is really bad... than it gets better after it hits running temp, still ticks a little but not nearley as bad. Oil pressure seems fine and I did notice that after I rev past 3 grand I dont really hear a tick anymroe... But it seems to be ticking all the time when I am just crusin... Is this completley normal or is there something worng? Now I just stuck on my CF hood and might just be hearing the noise more because it is thinner and because I am thinkg about it more now because I am sticking a bigger tubo on in a week... But am I just paranoid or is there really a problem?

Also my oil looks really really dirty and I use a little tiney bit every once and a while... is this normal too?

If its extremely loud it could be a leak. I have a crack in my manifold and its terrible. Check for leaks in your exhaust setup.

Mine quieted down considerably when I switched to a factory oil filter and Mobil 1 oil.
