Loud Squicking noise on cold start

Usually it happens if the car was not running for more than 4 hours, on cold start.
I usually don't put my car in 1st gear when park, just e break. When i start the car, the loud squicking noise is coming from drivers side. It will do that for good 15-30 seconds and then goes away. Sometimes i will start driving and it will give the same exact noise when i am in first gear accelerating to about 10-15mph, then goes away. I have noticed that older cars have that problem, but whats causing it ?
It seems to me that it is some kind of belt since they are all on the drivers side.
Help me figuring out what kind of belt it is... if it is a belt !

I had a similar squeak. Do believe it was the alternator belt. Best inspect your belts. See if there is any signs of excess wear and replace them if necessary. For me, one of my stock fans was the culprit, oddly enough

For the most part it's the alternator belt squealing. I had a similar problem to yours when I started tinkering with DSM's and followed Gofer's post (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/420038-alternator-belt-screaming.html#post152794250) when looking up how to properly tighten the belt.

Tighten it in small increments to avoid over tightening it and snapping your belt.

I also think Alternator belt. The stock tensioning device is not great, and the threads in the alternator often strip. I ended up using a longer bolt so I could put a nut and lock washer on it to ensure it does not move.

Not the first time, I’m not paying close attention to the dates. Don’t threads ever close?

No. They just get listed as resolved but ge erally check the dates as i had made a few mistakes upon someone reviving a dead thread. Now i generally check the first post to see if its relevent and they continue to need help
