Hi i have a 1997 GST and i notice when i am driving a ticking sound is very loud from like idle speed to about 3500 rpm and then it goes away. When cruising at 45 mph in fifth gear it is so damn loud. it sound like a clacking sound coming from the engine area. I hope its just lifter tick. I notice when i release the gas pedal it goes away while crusing for a second then sounds a little quiter. once on the gas its makes that damn noise! Help please! I drove it at like 30 mph to lug the engine in fourth gear and it sound like a clacking sound.....help me

125000 on engine.....

be alittle more specific, does it occur more when your WOT? is it a constant tick? did you get all your recalls done yet? check the motor mounts and any other kind of mounting bracket under the hood

Possibly a bad wheel bearing, however probably not b/c that is more of a grinding noise.

Could also be one of your CV joints. I know that I have a bad CV joint right now and it makes a god-awful clanking noise and its driving me insane. But check your CV joints and go from there.
