I'm a noob help me. There's a weird humming noise when I drive, yes I've searched but I have a video so I figured it would be easier to determine what it could be. It gets louder with more weight in the car I believe, and this repeated humming noise gets faster as I speed up, and slower as I slow down. Sounds like it's coming from the back but not positive.

Turn those speakers up a little bit and listen, you'll hear it.

Guys its a rear wheel bearing on a GST yea he could jack it up and check for side to side play but sometimes its so small its almost un-noticeable but it still screams like a son of a gun

Alright so I know I need to replace the rear left wheel bearing, but I'll most likely replace both. I went outside and rocked/pushed down on my car a couple times, let go, and it seemed to stop after one bounce, so maybe the struts are fine and one of the springs are bad? I just don't want to end up replacing like the front two struts or springs and end up having the problem be in the rear of the car

Okay good... I was hoping is wasn't something worse. I was kind of nervous because for some reason my car is lower on the driver side, like it leans a little bit. Like above the space between the tire and body is close to an inch higher on the passenger side, any clue what that could be? There was also damage to the plastic covers around the driver side wheel, that covers the belts.

If its lower, maybe something with the suspension and the tire? And it could be rubbing against plastic. Get a little dirty and look around in their. It may be also with your breaks. You could of wore them down or something happened. But you would be hearing metal grinding noise. Look around their and see if anything looks weird to you. But these are what I can think from what you have described.

Take it to a machanic. They would be able to look at it and tell you. I'd say bring it too my shop. But I'm sure if you drove you might fall apart on the way.

Yeah... Arizona is a little bit out of my way LOL. But I will send it to a shop.

And as for the plastic, when I first got the car, I noticed a couple days after that the plastic in the front driver side wheel was cracked and damaged. So I'm not sure what could've happened, I wish the person I bought it from would've told me but I guess it's kinda my fault too for not checking out everything.

When I bought my Eclipse my dad helped me inspect it. We just looked on the outside of the body and the engine and on the inside. But once I got it to the shop I lifted it and saw this guy had jumped it or something. He had scraped the oil pan and put a crease down the middle of the body. But if i got to see underneath it I wouldnt have bought it.

Yeah I thought the person I bought it from jumped it or something too but it wouldn't make sense for only one side to get messed up, so I'm guessing he hit something. Also, everything beneath the car is fine, nothing's scraped at all.

Below you can see what I'm talking about. The first picture is back behind the wheel more towards the front, I got two bolts in there so it stays stable instead of flapping around like before. The second picture is directly in front of the wheel, you can tell it was rubbing before I secured it.

I can tell you bro, your not going to get rid of that noise. Unless you cut it away or replace what needs to be replaced. Take it to a shop have them diagnose it. From what the second picture looks like, it looks like metal? I'm not too sure. But you need to get that stuff replaced or cut it or something.

No, that's actually not making the noise, it's coming from my rear left wheel, and there is nothing damaged back there, it's just there in the front. both of those pictures are just the plastic thing that attaches to the bumper and goes back behind the tire to I guess protect the belts from getting dirt and stuff in them from the tire. Nothing is rubbing anymore, I got it nice and secure. I just posted the pictures to show what damage was done, and that is on the side that is lower, so I'm GUESSING they hit something and that is what could've screwed the spring and or strut up.

EDIT: Alright so I just jacked up the rear of my car to check to see if the wheels wobbled at all, in case of a bad bearing, and they didn't wobble at all. I spun both wheels and I noticed the left rear tire seemed uneven, it was like one part of the tire was more flat than the rest, which I can see how that would make noise. The right rear wheel seemed fine.

I also measured the distance between the tire and the body when it was lifted, and the distance on both sides were equal, then I walked to the front and the front left was still sagging. So I know the problem lies in the front left wheel, either a strut or a spring. I would lean more towards spring though because the car didn't bounce really after I did the bounce test, but that might not be the most accurate so I'm not positive.

Let me know what you guys think

You have a flat spot on your left rear tire. Or a shifted belt. Could be any number of things. Take that wheel and move it to another spot on the car. I bet the problem will move where the wheel is.

If your 100% sure the wheel is fine then just put another tire on it.

Also ride height is controlled by springs. If one sags, time to buy another set.

What is a shifted belt?

If you can find a shop that uses a tire balancer that can check for road force the machine will pick it up.
Sometimes impact can shift or snap the belts inside the tire. If it looked out of round when you spun it that would only be worse with the cars weight on it.

That makes sense then for the noise. It had a flat spot and gets louder with weight. Looks like I need a new tire and front left spring, and I'm good hopefully.

I'm just gonna go OEM, I don't really see the need for any aftermarket springs right now, my car is 99.93523% bone stock. Plus the money factor.
