SO,
I was having some troubles with my clutch. Some of you were keeping up with my thread on how i thought my clutch was acting up and it needed breaking in and yada yada. Well, i live in Virginia and was driving to New York last night, and I had been riding on cruise control for about 45 minutes. I came upon some traffic and decided to take it outta gear and coast. Thats when it happened. The clutch went straight to the floor. Like, with no resistance and the rpms didnt change. So i couldnt take it outta gear, was 250 miles from NY or VA. I pulled over and checked the clutch fluid and it was fine. SO the only way to get it back into gear and get myself back to VA consisted of lots of turning off the car, putting it into 1st, cranking it and gassing it and trying not to die. Its like the clutch doesnt exist. A pedal that isnt connected to anything. I would have had it towed had i not been soo far from the house. I took it to the trans place this morning. Any guesses on whats going on? Lets get some estimates and suggestions here. LOL ROFL ROFL ROFL

Did you check to see if your master cylinder was leaking?

Due to the weird engagement, id say your master or slave have went out. I'd recommend just swapping both cylinders with new OEM ones. Also, what kind of clutch is in the car? Did you remember to check the placement of the clutch fork against the pressure plate?

Could be acouple of things. Either your clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder went out. Or it could be your pressure plate took a dump on you. Because if your clutch disk went out you would still have resistance from the pressure plate i believe.

I had this exact problem while i was down in Ft. Myers this spring break. I was freaking out because i didnt have much money and home is in michigan. Turns out it was the slave cylinder, $30 at autozone. Like kwalk23 said, check the master for fluid down by the clutch as well. Good luck with the problem.

The same thing happened to my dad when he was driving my Talon back from Baltimore. It turns out that the line was leaking right near the stock 'resevoir' thing. I replaced the entire line from the master to slave, and haven't had a problem until now, when my entire clutch just went out on me.

so this thread was originally titled "And then there was none." Dont think our mod up there liked it

Rule #5: Posting Threads and Replies said:
When posting in the forums, be sure to:

* Post in the correct forum

* Use a descriptive thread title

* Give as much info as possible and make sure your profile is filled in. No bumping threads (replying to your thread for the sole purpose of moving it to the top of the forum for more exposure).

* Do not reply to a thread with "Use the Search" - answer the question, link to the answer, or don't reply at all.

* Explain your answer in detail. If someone is asking about which clutch is best for their application, don't just say "ACT 2600". Explain to them why you think the ACT 2600 is the best for their application.

* No Guessing - if you don't know the answer for sure, don't reply - we don't need you spreading hearsay and/or misinformation. If your reply contains phrases like "I think", or "I've heard", or "everyone else does it", or "my brother's uncle's friend did it and had no problems" - it is not useful. Only post a reply if YOU know the answer from YOUR own first-hand experience. Instead of replying with a guess, post a link to a thread where the answer can be found, or the same discussion already took place.

* If you ask a question and get the problem solved, be sure to reply to your own thread and let everyone know what solved it. If someone helps you with a tech problem, be sure and return the favor by giving that member reputation points for their helpful reply.

* Use proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar when you post in our Tech forums. I know this request might sound petty but it makes your post easier to read and helps our search feature find your post. If you take the extra time to type out your post using correct spelling more people will read it. If you use Internet Explorer please download and use the "iespell" feature (spellcheck). Firefox users have it built in.

Yes, it matters. Imagine what the next guy with the same problem has to go through trying to search for an answer, all tech thread titles must properly reflect the content of the thread for this very reason, not to mention it will get you more serious and accurate responses.

Youre right about the more accurate responses and what not. However, my punctuation was more than applicable so I dont understand why that was highlighted in your quoted reply. Oh well, theres a reason this is the newbie thread. Im a forum newbie. LOL = laugh out loud or laugh on line

LOL

Wow man i feel your pain, I had the same proble except on mine i could pull the pedal back up and it would work if i pressed the pedal fast. It turned out to be the master cylinder. Its probably the same on yours, either the master or the slave cylinder.
