OK so i was on the way back from a job interview in the rain ,when i first noticed that my dash lights were a little dim. I though nothing of it at first but they slowly got dimmer and dimmer. My altenator light didnt come on and i didnt get a check CEL. Around the corner form my house my lights had completely died and car started to sputter. I pulled over and decieded to call a tow truck. Once i had stopped the car just DIED. I havent had a chance to check anything yet but has anyone had any similar problems? I just got the altenator 2 weeks ago brand new from Advanced Auto. Someone ### drop an idea my way

Did you put the splash guard back on when you replaced the alternator? The alternator is an electrical unit and if water or anything liquid splashes on it, its done for.

But anyway, it sounds like your alternator died or the belt broke. When you were driving your car, when you gassed it, did the car seem to be REAL hesitant? If it was then its the alternator.

Im going to pull the altenator today. I think thats wut happened cause i dony know if i mentioned it but it was raining on the way. When my timing belt blew the guy who put a new one on never put it back on. Now i have to go to the junk yard and find me a new one. Thx for the hint. I'll post more lata today

Sounds like the Alternator died. What I do is have my HKS turbo timer to show me my battery voltage 24/7 when I drive, it will let you know before hand that you are having a charging issue and it has saved my butt numerous times by warning me well before my Alternator dies.

What doesnt have a U

I would personally attack the alternator first. First take your alternator off and have it tested at a local autostore. Either autozone or advanced auto does free testing. If it's not the alternator check the belts and check the connections.

Good luck hunting.

Now that we have that silly debate out of the way, one might note that an alternator is designed to operate outdoors in the elements of weather. The solid-state components and windings are dipped in a varnish-like liquid for water-proofing along with rubber boots and wedge-type connectors only help it to stay free of dust/dirt and from shorting to surrounding metal.

Sry didnt get around to posting lately been busy with work and skool. As it turns out the new altenator i bought a month ago had melted it internals!!!! Dnt know how or why but they tested it a Pepboys and the thing just sparked everywhere and melted its copper all over their machine..... Bought a new one and its been fine ever since
