I just put a Dejon tool UICP and a HKS SSQV BOV on my car. As of right now I am venting, I just wanted to see what the big deal was. I went to race my friend with a 95 GSX that is stock except for intake and I now only pulled on him by maybe a car length on a second gear pull to third gear pull, when before the BOV and UICP I pulled on him really hard and just kept on pulling. Could venting cause this much of a difference or is something else now wrong with my car? My bost is still building up good and holds steady but the car just seems slow and it is cause my friend like I said kept right with me. I was really pissed off and ofcourse he is really happy since he has basically nothing done to his car. Please help. View mod list if needed. The only other thing that I can think of is that my car has been in storage and has been sitting for 4 months with the same gas in it. The gas was stablized, so would that have an affect on it, that is the gas that I raced him with?
I can't really feel that much of a difference but it is obvously there.

some days all of our cars can be lemons... if he keeps this up, i would blame it on venting though.

running rich lowers power because your fuel doesn't burn as hot because there is less oxygen to fuel then when your running lean.

The BOV was brand new. As far as boost leak, my boost guage goes right up to 14 psi as I have it set and holds really well other than a little boost creep to do my stock o2 housing whcih will be gone this month hopefully. could it jsut be the old stablized gas? How can I tell if I have a boost leak, wouldn't my boost guage show it? Are you sure venting would not have to do with it since venting causes the car to run rich, I yes it does seem to bog inbetween shifts a little

venting doesnt have anything to do with it.

it does have something to do with it, when you loose the air that your car thinks its getting, it will still put in the fuel for that air.

to make a fire you need oxygen, that is why forced induction boosts power so much. if you put in 14.7 lbs of boost you are doubling the oxygen. the more oxygen the more heat, the more heat the more power(and melting if you get to muchOMG )

whats your vac read on your boost gauge at idle?

if you had a leak i would think your car would idle a little poopy. also your are suposed to have -15 to -20 at idle if your idle is at -14 or less i would say you have a leak.

Yes, but you'll work your poor turbo exponentially harder trying to make up for the escaping air.

P.S. Quit venting until properly set up to do so.

Venting will make your car run rich on shifts....not WOT. So your spool time between shifts might be affected some.

I just checked on my car and at idle the needle is sitting at -.5. Can anyone else with a bost guage that reads bars tell me if thsi is nrmal/right or not. Or can you tell me the conversion. My boost guage only goes to -1.0 and if 1 bar is about 14 psi then the car is way off and my guage would not even read the correct number that it should be if it should be between -15 and -20 psi. please help

i need to to test my setup. I have this annoying little wistle every time I let off the throttle. Even if I'm only boosting a pound or two, it will still have a kind of long high pitched wistle. Not very loud, but enough to piss me off. Hopefully testing my car will help me find the problem. Does this whistle sound familiar to anyone, maybe someone could help me troubleshoot it.
