Yet another problemWTF. When I park some days there will be coolant coming from my overflow tank. The car doesnt overheat and only goes to the half way line on the dash gage. My check engine light comes on and off due to where its set in link Im guessing(219f). When I check link because of cel it shows nothing. Under the hood does seem alittle warmer. What could this be? Please dont say head gasket, I might end this love hate relationship.:barf:

Check your thermostat and radiator cap. Cheap and easy to replace. If you want to see if its a head gasket do a compression test. Could be exhaust from a cylinder leaking in the coolant syatem...

Only fill the overflow tank up to the "FULL" line, not all the way up to the top. You fill the radiator, (or the water inlet housing) right below the top, then you fill the overflow tank to the "Full" line.

When was the last time you did a total system flush - including radiator and heater core? And a flush is to take off the radiator and flush the living crap out of the radiator since tons of junk resides in the bottom of the radiator. While you have the radiator off and t-stat out, now you can flush the block out.

When you do a new cap, make sure that the mating surfaces in the t-stat housing are smooth and clean so the gaskets on the cap are ensured a good seat and tight fit.

Low idle: reset the IAC, then adjust the BISS screw to get the 750 idle rpm.

Use common sense intead of the link - being just a program: If you're getting a CEL, do the beep codes from the ECU to diagnose what's going on. Coolant sensor, if bad, will give you hard starts on a cold day since the ECU has gone into 'open loop' and it's thinking the outside temp is 77 degrees.

How's the o2 sensor, for it will thow a CEL if it senses a lean or rich mixture and idle speed can cause this if not in parameters.

I did pick up a t-stat and will put it in tomorrow. Could the coolant temp. sensor have anything to do with it?

Make sure you check your new thermostat before you put it in. Some of the time they don't work right out of the box. Boil some water and check that it opens :)
