Ok well i recently purchased a 95 eclipse gst and i dont know what route to take to get to my goal. My goal is to be making more or less 300hp. I want to defently get a bigger turbo but what size would be reasonable? What kind of supporting mods do i defently need when i install a bigger turbo?

okay like i said i am 17 and i have worked my ASS off for the stuff i have gotten

just work

work

work

get poon

work

work

and then some more work

then when you get what you want results will come

just when you do it dont come over a bridge at 160 and not watch boost creep

then you will have to shell out more money

Everyone's posts have been very very helpful, especially the ones telling me about my car maintance. As of right now my car is in the garage, we had to take the head off and we are putting a new head on it and possibly modding some things like the cams valves some rockers maybe and someother things also. So with that said before we get it started when we are all done we are going to replace all the fluids in the car and do all the maintance for it.

:D i just needed a little check into reality because now i think about it and why do i want all this other stuff that will make my car faster when i will just have to maintance the car that much more to get it to run right. I've just been looking around and i am thinking about right after i get it running on buying some nice coilovers and getting some nice tires then i am going to get a nice little fmic and i'll just go from there!

No one ever gets to 300hp and says "well thats it." You're going to want more. Do as much research as you can before buying parts. It's easy to waste money by having to upgrade things a second time.

Don't get a FMIC yet, you'd be better off spending money elsewhere. I'd get a Manual Boost Controller, a walbro 190 will be more than enough and you won't have to buy an AFPR, as stated you can get some evo injectors for cheap, an SAFC and a palm datalogger. All that can be had for less than the fmic. Get a muffler shop to build an exhaust for you (usually much cheaper than buying a turbo-back exhaust) and hell build a home depot intake pipe. Thats the cheapest was to safely make more power.

edit: And be prepared to buy a new clutch.

An ebay FMIC and kit is cheaper than the parts you mentioned. It's a wothwhile upgrade. It's not like an ebay intercooler hasn't proven itself (or hard to properly make). There is no use pushing boost and matching it with fuel, only to have to much hot air to tune around.

Oh i forgot about the exhaust system. I would probably get the 3in exhaust 1st then when i get that i would get a nice fmic maybe a used name brand one? Then ill start with the fuel system and once i get done with that i will probably save up for an act 2600 clutch or something cause im pretty sure ill need one soon.......

Lovely to hear. Dont be like me & have an SAFC, Blitz boost controller installed on your car with 18 inch rims sittin in the garage just because your car's broke down on the curb. Maintence is key. ALTHOUGH my recent break down is because of melted wire harnesses near the glovebox. But regardless, maintence is KEY.

All Filters
All Fluids
All Belts
All Leaks checked... 3 in exhaust and a boost controller means your good to go :thumb:

Really just watch classifieds and ebay for a 14b before FMIC. I ran one with the stock SMIC. It was a huge upgrade compared to what you can expect from a t25 on a FMIC.

But see the thing is that im going to be running probably a big 16g or a small i dont know yet but still i want to get a fmic just to get the most out of my turbo when i get it. But im not worrying about the fmic right now. I just want to get it started and running right now then ill worry about modding everything.

Another quick question. When people are selling 16g turbo and they say that it needs to be rebuilt what does that mean needs to be changed on it? Is it a hard task to do? Is it worth it?

DAMN those were great instructions!! That made it seem soooooo easy! Now i know for future preferences just to get a 16g that needs to be rebuilt.

turbo seems good, but i have seen some 16g's for around 100ish that need to be rebuilt sooo ya...... But no i havent heard of that school, why?

you should probably look to see how much a rebuild kit is. I know theyre not cheap if you think you'll be getting away with a 16g for close to 100 bucks.

wait so i need to buy a rebuild kit for the turbo!?! the instructions never said anything about that, they just said clean everything out really really welll........

You do. The autor of the articles can sell you one!:) Just PM him.

haha if all the seller of the "bad" turbo had to do was clean it, why do you think hed be selling it? cleaning it is not rebuilding it. you need a rebuild kit that replaces alot of the parts in the turbo. im not sure exactly how much a rebuild kit is but you might be better off just getting a new one. price could be close. how are you making out with your supporting mods?

A rebuild kit is $100. Even if you get a blown 16g for $200 shipped, then you're in for only half of what they go for new. Just don't buy a turbo with damaged wheels. Making the wheels before disassembly is critical, since the wheels are balanced as an assembly and a turboshaft spins at 100,000+ rpms.

That cleared up alot about the turbo rebuild thing. :) But i guess the supporting modding thing could be going better if i had an actual income. Right now i am dumping almost all my money into getting the car actually running (had to buy a whole new head) and i already have all the guages like the boost temp and oil i think it is? My next mod is going to be looking for a nice 3in exhaust or maybe start piling up some fuel system parts like bigger injectors different fuel pump etc. or a nice fmic i dont know yet. I guess it all depends on the income.......

anyone know of a place where i can find a used 3in exhuast system for around 250 bucks? I didnt have much luck looking in the classifieds on this website. any help?
