yeah i bet it was money well spent! i have about 2 grand into my car. i really want to run 11.99 with 2 grand. it cost me about 6k to do the same feat 6 years ago.
so you see i cant "afford" to put any more money into it. 11.99 for 3 grand just isnt very impressive to me

The spyder top (complete kit with canvas, glass heated window, headliner, bow pads, and tension cables) runs about $700ish USD. So itll run me just over $1000 I am guessing.

Side note, just renewed my ASME membership, Credit card conversion rate as of Tuesday... 1.3959. Ouch... Definitely going to put a delay on any upgrades for the spyder thats for sure.
Yikes man is that for a brand new unit or a used one. Canada really has its disadvantages doesnt it...

@ brandon- starting with such a light chassis really helps thats for sure. I was hoping to be able to hit 11's for under 4.5k....im thinking the fp 68hta type turbo going to put me over that. Between what i just spent on link and the other mods ive got about 3k total. Then im going to need cams, cam gears and a better clutch ontop of that. My tran will more then likely blow first pass to haha.

I wish I could get Link for the 3000GT, it was the best money I spent for the Eclipse.
I personally think ecmtuning should expand....the supra community could really use a similar setup as well. Im really thinking delaying my new engine until tax time will be the correct decision. It was either finish it or link.....

i know you have a free car, but im surprised you have that little into it. usually looking at 2k for a rebuilt engine, then you still need injectors, clutch, turbo, intercooler, etc. be hard to run 11s if your trans is no good. a stock trans is plenty strong enough to do it. you dont need cams either.
i have $800 evo3 lsd trans! thats most expensive part on my car, but good shifting trans is my first priotity. i also have a used fidanza

Aah i forgot injectors. ive got more then 3.5k total into my car, between panel replacement, parts car, new engine etc ive easily got 6k total into it. Had lots of things break as well. But for mods installed/to be installed ive got a 255 walbro, punishment racing fmic, south bend bend clutch, fidanza flywheel, fuel lab fpr, innovate mtl-x, 2g exhaust mani, 2 knock off greddy bovs, bsek, and now ecmlink..
My tran is in rough shape really, 4th pops out every gear grinds now. Just hope it holds out until i can get evo3 gear sets.

2k and getting the times your getting.....is an awesome deal.

its not really a good deal if you consider the 100 hrs of labor to do the swap haha but yeah this is my fun everybody has to do their own thing i guess.
itd be cool to see a dsm at sir again. i didnt see one this year. i took a few years off there. i plan to be there a lot this year, but you never can tell

Problem is ECMTuning is just the two guys so they don't even have the time to do all they could do Link. If they could expand to other platforms that would be awesome, although sometimes it's almost easier already to go to something new enough you can ECU flash.

I have lots into my Eclipse, including paying $5200 for it like five years ago. Just be glad the DSM world isn't expensive as some like the 3S scene! LOL

Lol I think ive spent even more then 100 hours before even getting to drive my car and it wont run faster then a mid 14. So i still think you got a deal. The dsm community needs more swaps like what you do, more variety. I kill to do a few different swaps, like a 4g miata or something.

If I had a lot of money I'd love to make the 3S six speed fit inside a DSM on a 4G63

Do they have the same set up as a subie tran?

I never knew Ecmtuning only had 2 people, I thought there was more like 10-12 people....my bad. I guess its really understand-able that they haven expanded.

6 speed would be sweet. i would use a porsche 6 speed 4b11 mounted midship in a first gen suzuki forsa. would be 1500 lbs

3S drivetrain is same setup as DSM but everything is built heavier and much taller gearing. A fresh rebuilt 3S trans would easily handle the power to run 9s and my VR-4 will do 100 mph top of third so it'd be perfect for the track.

you and your small cars LOL I'm surprised you don't have a Festiva. those are quick when you swap in a BP engine.

a festiva is of similar weight but bp turbo stuff is rare and crazy expensive and makes no power. 4g63s are super common and make 275 hp with no money and awd, fwd, mid engine, rwd, its all available. no better engine imo. a first gen sprint is 1450 lbs so thats why i mentioned it. i cant think of anything lighter

i read somewhere that the fwd 3000gts had f5m33 with larger axles and different bellhousing obviously, but same gears and such as its the same trans. not sure what gearing it has. i almost grabbed the one from bucks just for research purposes.
i always assumed the awd trans is a much beefier unit and obviously would not be the same as the dsm. is it even possible to adapt? who knows. amazing if it is possible and hasnt been done

yeah I've never heard of it being done. It'd take a custom bell housing and clutch and it's about an inch to inch and a half longer from bell housing to end of case. The six speed and transfer case are almost bullet proof, and imagine trapping 130 mph only making three shifts.

i would think that gearing is way too tall for a 3000 lb car with a 2.0!
but the gto is 3.0 in a 4000 lb car and if it works in that, i suppose it should also work in a dsm.
ive got a feeling the gto is geared a bit too tall,no? what the hell do you do with the other three gears?

100 km/hr is about 2000 rpm in the VR-4, a higher compression 4G63 could easily pull that gearing down the highway. it's just that to do 130 mph traps you're like the top of 5th on a DSM trans.

stock tire size and gears, an awd dsm will go over 130 mph under 7000 rpm in fourth gear.
i did 123 mph with 23" tires about 7000 rpm

I guess thats better than I thought, it's been a while since I've ran my Eclipse. I just remember being already into fourth for a bit for the 110 mph traps I did.

anyone know who's trying to sell the black 95 tsi ???
It's in Pike Lake..

oh you must mean the automatic, i was referring to the manual, as nobody wants autos. that 95 auto looks amazing, yet itll be a tough sale. i sold my 95 auto for 1400 bucks! it was rough though.

i just won the salvage auction on a 95 auto awd. ugh. $300. car appears to be decent shape and would be easy fix, but i dont think ill bother. much better off just harvesting and hoarding
