I work till 9 but I can make it there after work for a bit at least

Shouldn't his pistons be alright Dean? I thought the worst that could happen would be a slight "dent" in the piston but nothing serious enough to actually rebuild the bottom end.

Or are you just reffering to the prior condition of his block?

And Scott, I think it would be easiest if you could just find a complete used engine and just swap that one in. Less headaches in the long run, but regardless I would still change alot of gaskets and things while the motor is out.

The pistons should be fine. Worst case is rare which is bent valves, scored cylinders, holes or cracks in pistons, and stuff dropped down into the crank. Best case and most cases is just valve replacement, gasket, t-belt stuff.

Well, as far as the meet goes I think it will be:

Me, Scott, Lyndon, Roly, Matt, Brendan, and possibly Kyle? (still waiting on him to chime in haha)

I also have a friend with a 95 talon, might see if he wants to tag along too.

We might as well call ahead to cause BP's gets stupid on weekends, especially for a group of 7 or 8 people.

Garret what kinds of Restrictions would i have to use when turboing my nt motor....... looking to run like 10 psi of boost.... :D looking for the cheap way out LOL

Not a clue on the non turbo block. I'm guessing higher compression but I have no idea man.

And scott, I already have a lead on a cylinder head. I posted a WTB add for you on Club DSM Canada. If you guys here are not familiar with it, it is another great resource. ca.dsm.org is the website. check it out.

Haha thanks guys, I will be gone till tuesday night Scott so I will update you on the motor situation then. If you want in the mean time start looking into what it might cost to ship a motor, or cylinder head (depending on what you want) from Ontario to here. Almost everyone on ca.dsm.org is from out east.

Brendan, look on VFAQ, I remember reading something about turboing a non-turbo car and them saying it was a pain in the ass...

And as far as exhaust, they arn't to strict here. Hell I don't have a cat, period haha.

First I assume you’re looking into swapping a 4G63NT with a 4G63T, not with a 420a.
Making the NT engine go into a turbo car is not the best choice. NT’s run higher compression ratio which means higher chance of detonation, so pistons are different but I believe the rods are the same. There are guys running more compression out there in their turbo engines, but they are serious gear heads. The pistons should be changed anyway as the stock NT ones have weaker ring lands. The turbo has additional oil passages by the crank for skirt lubrication and the NT does not. The NT is missing oil squirters that would need to be moved over.
Sorry no cheap and easy way. I suggest finding a long block used turbo engine somewhere and drop it in as being the cheapest and easiest.

Lose your cat. It is illegal in SK to remove a working cat, but not mandatory to replace it when it fails. I know a guy from the RCMP and they don’t worry about cat’s in SK on older cars as much as they use there discretion on loudness of the exhaust. Generally if you’re screwing around and cop sees you, he is going to find a ‘legal’ reason to make you pay. Even a high flow cat adds restriction so it is good to lose it. Now if you are running a small turbo with an internal wastegate with a three inch exhaust you may want a cat to help restrict flow otherwise you mostly likely will get boost creep.

For the guy looking for the cylinder head i have a couple good ones lying around that i could sell but you would have to come to saskatoon to get it.

i'll be there around 8:30 i have previous commitments....... but ill be there none the less for a couple wobbly pops, and on a side note anyone with a non oil burning 6 bolt turbo block or anyone that knows someone that has one...... let me know i want to join the turbo club i hate my nt
