might i just say thats the LONGEST recirc hose ive ever seen! before i broke down and purchased t-bolt clamps id blow off IC pipes and thought that sound was CRAZY with 17psi. I hope you were recording that VR4 on the dyno when you did that, id love to see/hear it. :thumb:

its not too long i dont think, not anything like a subaru. i dont have video but it scared the shit out of everyone in the shop, it was at like 22-24psi

Put a quart of oil in my first dsm, drove down the road, heard something crunch, opened hood, no oil cap, WALKED 2 miles to get one. 2 days later car overheats in traffic, fuse for rad fan is blown, replace fuse 5 times, take it to shop, fan is fried. Get a junkyard fan, take off original, oh look... oil cap.

Forgot to put rtv on oil pan seal, leaked like hell.

VTA'd on a stock mas. (For about 10 minutes, I don't know how people drive like this, my car ran like ass and stalled about 500 times)

Did clutch swap, started car afterward, would not run right and the CEL was on. Fought with it for 2 hours looking for something wrong, couldn't find anything, checked CEL code, Mas sensor. Plugged mas back in, fixed...

Installed SAFC, started car, CEL, rich as hell, rewired 3 times, got pissed, checked CEL, Mas sensor... again... checked plugs, plugged in??? decided I was going to walk away, got to my garage door, turned around, turned on car, set SAFC to karmann instead of hotwire, fixed.

Forgot to tighten lug nuts after I sat the car on the ground, and i didnt have a lug wrench that fit it with me. After 40 minutes a friend showed up and tightened them in about 30 seconds.

That is all I can think of for now.

after rebulding my car I was finishing up and put the radiator back in filled up the radiator and it took like 3 gallons and I was freaking out until I tightend the petcock....

damn thing gets me ever time too.

i know i already posted mine but im going to post a DSM buddies because i know that he'll never post it because its WAY WAY WAY bad.

so he calls and is like "dude, cars got blue smoke rolling out of the exhaust at idle!" :hmm: he figures his valve seals were done for so he pulls the head and then decides, screw it... 2.3L FTW. he starts taking off his freshly installed 16g and WHAT DO YA KNOW! his ass, instead of using oil return line gaskets used RTV and completely RTV'd the return line at the oil pan!!!
:applause: thats why there was blue smoke ROLLING out of his exhaust... :applause:

its amazing the mistakes we made/make and DEFINITELY learn from them! his mistake just cost him to pull the motor and spend thousands to build a 2.3 stroker and bum rides for a year, not bad... haha.

Ha bought my first talon awd tsi auto it had a busted timing belt (700 bucks for the whole thing). Bought a new head and timing belt kit installed everything myself got the intake back on and started the car. It started right up, Except for one thing it revved throught the roof. I thought tps so I adjusted that, no luck. After 2 days of tweeking I happened to look at the throttle cable. It was routed under a few vac lines and was holding the tb wide open. Go figure....LOL

I constantly drive around with sockets underneath my hood. I popped a hood at a friends house to check the oil and he notices the socket or two laying along side the where the hood meets the fender and says "Hey man are you just gonna leave those there? "Yep they made it here they will make it home"

Once I forgot to tighten up the clamp on my Lower IC pipe. Blew it off and limped back to the house and spent 2 days trying to figure out why I was hitting fuel cut.

Installed a Oil return tube without gaskets at one point. Had to take it off clean it again and then put it back on.

Working on the Saturn I started to fill the Transmission with Fluid and it comes pooring out of the CV axel. CV axel was no in all the way. Wasted about 4 qts of ATF.

I just traded my Passat, which was my first car, for my 93 Laser.

Havent done anything TOO terrible to the laser yet; right now shes running with vac lines unhooked from the previous owner and cheap oil. Advanced Auto oil is probably better than the stuff that sat in it for the past two years..

But--- When your poor dirty and white, and drive a VW that you cant maintain or understand.. Youre bound to have some shit like this happen:

Heater core bypass- went REALLY well for the first month or so.. Until i went up 'Bangor Mountain' which is locally notorious for making poorly maintained cars crap themselves. Got no more than a quarter mile up and my bypassed hose must have came off. Dumped coolant all over my transmission and left a cloud of hell behind me. Continued to finish the mountain so i could make it to the gas station on the other side.
---LOL this actually happened three hours before i traded it for the laser. made it happen as soon as i got home.

Another time, I had an important meeting with some law folks at the courthouse. It was really nice out but overcast, so i put my *off track* window down a bit. Of course, as soon as i hit the highway, the most massive summer downpour hits. With one hand im trying to put it up, it falls completely off track and slips away into my door panel. Now im right next to a semi on the highway, with water from his wheels whipping through my completely open window, and even more rain pouring down from the sky and from my windshield. None of the electronics on the left side of the car worked after that except the speakers LOL

ill update later- did tons of dumb shit with my dub. gotta go for now.

Changed the oil and filter. I started the car and it dumped all the oil on the garage floor. Must have tightened the oil filter 3-4 times and kept leaking before i figured out that the old filter o-ring had stuck to the housing and I installed the new filter over it.

Anytime I work with anything electrical, I wind up zapping myself. As recently as a few days ago actually. Was installing the system in my car and forgot to unhook the battery. ZAAAP under the dash.

Tongue tingled for like 30 mins.
