So... as I took on the adventure of changing out the hubby's turbo, I came across some interesting finds. First... the old turbo is a Garrett. woohoo. Second... the old turbo and manifold seriously gave up. They were just plain tired
. I have pictures of said items.
Please notice the ginormous crack on the left.

So what exactly caused these guys to crack? Just age? I understand these parts see some pretty extreme heat... but is that it? I just want to make sure it's not caused by something else because if this happens again, I won't be the one changing it out! This will probably be my first and last turbo swap
