i just installed my walbro 190, brand new, and now it takes 5-10 seconds to start the car. i read somewhere that this could be caused by a torn o-ring so i replaced that and used petroleum jelly for lube and reinstalled the pump. i have checked for leaks and havent found any. also i checked wires, fuses, etc. one thing i noticed is that i cant hear the pump come on when i turn the car to the "accesory" or the "on" position. i dont know. btw the car runs fine once it starts. please help, its getting old and annoying.

I installed a 255 LPH fuel pump and had the same problem. It didn't get fixed until after I did the fuel pump rewire mod. Now it only takes 1-3 seconds to start up. Made a huge difference and was flowing fuel a lot better through the system.

I would recommend the re-wire, as well. The two main causes of long starts after a fuel pump install are 1) torn/crooked O-Ring and 2) a drop in voltage to the pump (which the re-wire fixes). I'm not familiar with the pump bracket on a 2g, but on my 90, the fuel pump o-ring kept popping out of its housing, no matter how many times I "fixed" it. What I did was take a ~1/3" piece of fuel line and make a little "spacer" that held the o-ring snugly in place and didn't allow it to drop back out of the fuel line. This fixed the problem.

If you do all this and still have a problem, there are a few other things you can check, but these should fix the problem.
