i've been trying to log my 1g dsm on my laptop, found software and made cable got drivers the work, but cannot find comport 3 to hot sink my laptop to the emulator or the mmcd for that matter. Can anyone help?

You can hotsync your PC to emulator in a few different ways.
1. Network hotsync-Use the Hotsync Manager in PC Progams menu, you have to configure your settings for your IP adress, etc.
2. You can do a null-cable sync.
Both of these can be found in Palm Emu. Docs.

Are you sure it's not seeing the comport, or is it that the connection to the ALDL port is not connected properly? Sometimes I have to re-seat the ALDL connection 2 or 3 times before I get a reading on my MMCD emulator.

What error message are you getting when you try to use MMCD?

i get either com port 3 not found from the logger or that i have to do a local sync, i'll reseat the cable to be sure. TMO said the "cable was not connected properly" but i removed the pins on the aldl and cut soldered into them, so the cable would be permanent, then put the pins back on the harness. The cable is tight maybe i have to give it a little bit of slack. I made the cable as per the diagram

*edit* whats a null cable?

This is one of the methods to hotsync your Emulator to your PC.

Ok i've never logged before but i've done so much reading that i need the cable to turn up to 15 or 16 lbs,
because i also got my hands on a 90 eprom ecu (finally) so i want to log also when i get my 850 injectors and drop in a walbro and get up to 21 lbs...for now. Would it be easier to buy a logger?

*edit* I forgot so i do need to sync the emulator to my laptop in order for it to wrok properly

Yes, you have to sync the emulator to your laptop for it to work correctly.
Believe me, it can be a real pain.
It's not hard to do though, just read thru the Hotsync proceedures in the Palm emu docs.
You can get the step-by-step intructions.
