Logged my friends car what do you guys think?

Well we logged it made alot of knock, once it hit 4000rpms,we suspect from seaching on the fourms that the balance shaft belt is 180* off and making a vibration at 4k (since the guy he bought it from said he put a new timing belt as BS belt on the car), His mods are joe p MBC set to 15psi (creeps a little), 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, K&N filter, installed brand new knock sensor & oxygen sensor,hacked maf.

To much knock, turn the boost down a bit and log again. If you have a way to control fuel then richen it up a bit in the rpm range where it knocks.

Make sure his base timing is at 5 degrees. Turn the boost down a bit. Do a log all the way to 7grand. His timing at redline should be around 17-18ish

hacked maf.

How much did you hack it? the Maf could be missing alot of air causing it to run lean.

I would turn down the boost until you get a fuel pump and change the filter.

Definitely check the base timing...Altho knock is evident, the timing seems way too high anyway...

Only thing I don't agree about is doing a log to 7k...he's still on a 14b or a t25 since the car is mainly stock, so there is no way the car is making power into the 7000rpm range anyway...Keep your valvetrain, do a log to 6k-6.5k

I'm the owner of the car that got logged, 91 talon tsi awd , Ive had it for about 4 months


CanadianTSi - i only removed the honey comb part at the bottom,thats all.


kraka- ill check the timing again, it was off when i first got the car, ill try to get my buddy to log my car again soon


but I'm very suspicious of the vibration at 4k, ever since i bought the car it been like that.
