All third to fourth gear pulls starting at 35 mph -

These two are from one log -

{3} Rpms: 2509 Prs/Vac 0.0 O2: 5.1
TPS: 100 Dc:0.0%
Timing 23 Knock: 0
Fuel(pw) 0.0 Hz:0.0 MPH:0

{66} Rpms: 6085 Prs/Vac 0.0 O2: 5.1
TPS: 100 Dc:0.0%
Timing 45 Knock: 0
Fuel(pw) 0.0 Hz:0.0 MPH:0

These are both from one log -

{3} Rpms: 2635 Prs/Vac 0.0 O2: 5.1
TPS: 100 Dc:0.0%
Timing 23 Knock: 1
Fuel(pw) 0.0 Hz:0.0 MPH:0

{63} Rpms: 6023 Prs/Vac 0.0 O2: 5.1
TPS: 100 Dc:0.0%
Timing 29 Knock: 0
Fuel(pw) 0.0 Hz:0.0 MPH:0

Timing 45??? and 0 knock? My O2 is 5.1 in every RPM range on every log? Is there a "how to understand" the numbers area for tuning, i.e. what high knock equals, what high timing equals? These are my first logs and I'm not sure what would help you guys figure out what is wrong or where to go with the numbers.

Thanks

TIMING ADVANCE (range of 0 to 50 degrees)
This is the real-time spark timing the ECU is using. While at cruise speeds at low throttle settings it can maintain as high as 40 or more. This is a very usefull tool as you can really "see" the timing affect power. The more advance the better up until knock occurs. Ideally you want to maintain around 15degrees advance at WOT high rpms. Any higher advance and you probably can afford to increase boost a little bit, any lower advance and you are knocking and it's being retarded too much. It's very easy to see the relationship between the knock sum and the timing advance.

Tuning Tips

so with 1 count of knock or 0, 45 degrees of timing is GOOD??

with the laptop cable. It is hooked up right. 5.1 out of o2 makes no sense, it's brand new! I've only put about 550 miles on the sensor so what is going on here? What do you mean by "traditional" log? How do you make it just spit out the numbers?

o2 is at 5.1 from when I began to log and where I ended the log....

Timing goes like this -

RPM Timing

2446 25
2509 23
3074 20
3554 20
4172 21
4517 21
5113 19
5583 23
6085 45
6524 22

Does that help any? TPS is at 100%, O2 is 5.1 the whole time....did I screw up and mix up two cables when reconnecting it? I can't imagine that I did but....

Ok, the 45 doesn't make sense unless you lifted your foot off the gas right then. The ecu will advance timing for emissions purposes. Also knock will usually jump at the same time.

As to the 5.1V on the 02, yeah, it sounds like it is hooked up to a wrong wire. Accessories like the tps and such run off of a 5V source. Sounds like you have your 02 "in" wire hooked to one of those.

There is a heat power, heat ground, o2 signal, o2 ground right? The o2 signal could be swapped with heat power maybe?

The TPS is at 100%, so shouldnt that be WOT?

Also something someone else said was you can keep turning up the boost until you get knock? Does that timing look ok?

Thanks for the heads up!

and when I look at the tunerstein chart thing it shows .02 v from o2, but when I go to play it in tunerplayer it says 5.1 across the board - here's what I got this time -

This is at 14 PSI on the 14b in third -

RPMS Timing Knock Fuel (pw) TP
3262 20 0 11.26 97
3952 18 1 15.36 97
4391 19 3 15.87 97
4674 16 9 16.64 97
5176 16 14 17.15 97

Another pull -

3921 28 0 8.19 68
4109 22 0 12.8 100
4611 20 0 15.36 100
5489 22 1 15.61 96
5740 22 0 15.87 100
6274 22 0 14.84 100

So turning up the boost apparently has caused knock? But not everytime? Doesn't make any sense to me and I've been reading up on the tuning posts....I thought it it knocked at 14PSI, it will always knock at 14PSI? Also do the fuel nunbers look ok?

Thanks

the weather, the temperature of the air and your engine and many other factors affect a car. I too have been tuning lately and sometimes ill hit it and timing gets pulled and 5 minutes later i hit it and i get timing advance across the board but it shouldnt vary too much otherwise ur car is just not tuned.
