hey people iam interested in making my 98 eclipse awd can anyone tell me the complete list of things ima need. So far i know ima need a transfer case, center differential and a awd transmission is that all?:hmm:
 
Why wouldn't u just buy a gsx it would save you alot of time, money, and effort especially since u have a 4g64.

I might be wrong but I was pretty sure that spyders did not come with a 420a.

They don't. They come with a N/A 4g64 which is 180 degrees from a dsm 4g.
 
Shoot I'm thinking they're oriented the same as the 3g. Been working on my 3g's too much.

main parts
1. Entire 2G AWD rear sub-frame (Including the large bushings that bolt between the sub-frame and the unibody.)

2. Sub-frame Bolts (These bolts hold the sub-frame to the unibody. The FWD bolts are shorter. You will need to cut a square out of the sheet metal above each bolt in order to get the AWD bolts out of the donor car.)
3. Rear suspension set up (Including ABS Knuckles (if applicable), sway bar, control arms, shocks, and springs. You may use the FWD shocks and springs, but they are a different spring rate.)

4. E-Brake cables

5. Rear differential

6. AWD Front and rear axles (Splines must match transmission and differential. If you have ABS these must be ABS axles.)
7. Drive shaft with mount brackets, bushings, spacers, washers, and nuts.
8. Drive shaft frame hangers (These must be cut out of the tunnel of the donor car then welded in place on the project car.)

9. Transfer case (Input shaft splines must match transmission)

10. AWD transmission

11. AWD 7 Bolt Flywheel (It is smaller than the FWD flywheel. 6 bolt conversions will need a 6 bolt flywheel.)

12. AWD exhaust (I just upgraded to a 3" turbo back.)
13. AWD exhaust hangers
14. Fuel filler neck (Be sure to get the fuel filler neck that matches the fuel tank from the donor car. 1995-97 differs from 1998-99.)

15. AWD fuel tank (Be sure to get fuel pump assembly and level sending essembly.)

16. AWD fuel tank straps and shield
17. AWD fuel pump wire harness (At least the connectors for the fuel pump and level sending unit.)

There are plenty of good threads and build entries that list all you need. Also a 4g64 sits just like a 4g63. You can bolt a 4g63 head and transmission right up to it. You could easily turn your n/t spyder into and AWD turbocharged 2.4. Forged internals, the drivetrain from a GSX, ecu and harness from a turbo model, and of course the rest of the 63 engine parts that are required. If you have a black plastic case ecu it'll make it even easier on you.
 
You guys do understamd that there are smaller displacement engines moving transfercases right? Hell a gsx does all day. Its not like you're always in boost.
 
well so u all know i already have all the gst parts bolted on my car the only thing that keeps my car from being a gst right now is that i still have the sohc instead of the dohc wish i will be swapping soon and the 4g64 is the same exact thing as the 4g63 just with sohc and non turbo once added the exact same things as the gst it makes the engine exactly alike wish is what i have right now my car has a evo3 big 16g turbo with ported 2g gst manifold the same piping made for the gst with a big front mount intercooler and evo injectors and iam making 290whp on 93 octane at 10psi so really i have nothing to envy from a gst but the dohc. Now i see gst's hard top every day on the street and i once on a blue moon c a convertible 2g eclipse turbo thats not really comun this days atleast by kendall where i live. Why would i change a car thats not seen every day for a car that its on the street like water? so my goal is to have my car as nice as posible. If u all didnt know my car and the gst are the same just convertible and a diff head without a turbo look it up and ull c iam right.:hellyeah:
