Alright, I've been stuck in limp in mode since I bought the car in November. Hopefully I'll ask the right questions and give enough information for you guys to help me out. This is on a '95 GSX ATX. EGR, EVAP, MDP are missing. Intake manifold is not stock. Cone Filter. I'm not sure what else had been done to it.

It was kicking a transmission code when I first got it, so I just figured it was the TCM, since that seems to be a common problem. So, I replaced that and nothing changed. So, I took it to the stealership for them to pull codes because nobody else I went to had the right stuff to do it. They gave me these:

41-Open-Circuited shift control solenoid valve A
42-Short -Circuited shift control solenoid valve A
43-Open-Circuited shift control solenoid valve B
44-Short-circuited shift control solenoid valve B
83-Open or Short-circuited Shift Control Solenoid valve A
84-Open or Short-circuited Shift Control Solenoid valve B

So, I replace the shift solenoids with ones from IPT. Still get the same code. I figure out that someone had plugged the cruise control and shift solenoids in the wrong spots. (probably my brother). So, I fix that. I checked the wiring between the TCM and solenoids, and they are fine. When I first start it, it works like it's supposed to. I put it in drive, both solenoids are active. Put it in low, both are active, and put it in 2 and only one is active. But, when I try and drive it stays in first gear all the way to redline, even when I don't get on it, and then it kicks into what I think is limp in mode because both solenoids are off which means it should be 4th, but at over 3k going 55mph, I don't think it's 4th gear. I've testing the signals at the TCM, since I know the wiring is good.

So, are there any other connections that can get mixed up? What does the TCM take info from for shifting, other than the VSS, and pulse generators? My uncle thinks it has something to do with the MDP being missing. My Hayne's manual says it measures load and sends it to the PCM (powertrain control module). Most DSMers have told me it only monitors EGR stuff. So, could this be it? Hopefully I've provided enough information that someone can finally help me out.
