I have a 92 Laser Turbo and ever since i got it the lifters have been making noise. I dont know if anyone else had this problem with the 1st Gens. I tried putting marvel mystery in it when i changed my oil but it didnt do anything. can anyone tell me what i can do to free them up or where I can get other one's? Thanks!

Engine "Restore" and Lucas oil treatment have both worked to eliminate the lifter tick for me. The Restore seemed to work better.

look at the difference betwen stock and revised . its so big.

why would u not spend the 130$ for the new ones?

thats like sayin my engine is 15 years old with hi milage its smoking should i just put engine restore on it or get it rebuilt. LOL

GalantGst where can 16 lifters be gotten for $130.? Best I saw for a 6 bolt was $180. Mark-thanks!

It's just another option dude. Both the lucas and engine restore treatments have been proven to stop lifter tick and obvisouly worked for na_turbotalon.

So someone who doesn't know about DSMs lifter tick wouldn't like to know that there is other options than pulling your timing belt, valve cover and cams to replace the lifters? An extra $5 an oil change, what a stupid idea, sorry I mentioned it.

Chill dude. There's plenty of options, don't get butthurt just cuz someone took a different path than you.

Besides, you don't have to pull the timing belt and cams to swap lifters. It shows clearly in the VFAQ that you can pry off the rocker arms to get at the lifters.

I would never put in oil additives to stop a lifter tick problem----thats a bandaid solution. If your lifters are making a lot of noise it's because a) they are dirty and need to be cleaned or b) they are old and collapsed and need to be upgraded.

I got mine on ebay through www.partsdinosaur.com. They are worth every cent and more. I wish I bought them when I first bought the car. It is nice to not have people on the side of the road telling you your car sounds like its gonna blow up.
