Whenever i start my car first thing in the morning it sounds like the lifters are sticking, but im not sure if it is them. Will it stop making it if i cahgne the oil because im due for an oil change within 100 miles. Also i ahve 82,000 miles, should i switch to synthetic oil? and what major damage can come from the lifters?

Pour some seafoam in your crankcase with the old oil in there. Let it idle for about 10 min. Then change your oil. You can try synthetic, but dont think it would help. You live in Mass, is it still cold there? Once the temps warm up, you can try using some lucas oil stabilizer, but dont do it in the winter. That lucas stuff is really thick.

That helped my noise a bit. Then I bought the revised lifters. They are only like $130 from partsdinosaur.com

I can tell you the exact answer to your question. Mine started ticking as well but only for a second or two on startup. I changed my oil (mobil 1 Synthetic) two days ago. Not only did this not solve the problem, now my lifters are ticking all the time even though I cleaned them about a month ago:mad: .

Don't worry, lifter's can damage anything unless you don't have any on your car.

get the revised lifters. its around $100 and like 2 hours of labor. do it yourself and you'll be satisfied with the investment

Yes, as everyone else has stated it is the lifters, pour some sea foam in your oil and start it up for a bit then change it...or get the revised lifters they have some lifters on www.slowboyracing.com, in the engine section.
