Loud knocking after valve job. Lifters maybe?

Ok so the other day i apparently messed up my timing. When i went to start the car i found that it was getting no compression. Further inspection revealed that i had bent all of the intake valves. So i removed the head and replaced the intake valves. I re-did the timing on it and it starts but there is a loud knocking noise. Im pretty positive all the timing marks are in line and when i did the valves i checked them under the head and they all closed flush with their surfaces. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be. I also removed the valve cover and all of the rockers still seem to be tight, and is there any difference in the intake rockers and the exhaust? Also could it have anything to do with the lash adjusters? i didnt even mess with them when i put in the new valves.

did you check your pistons for damage? If its a loud knock then it would be coming from the bottom end...stick your ear down there while its running and you should be able to tell where its coming from. Knocking to me is most often a rod, you could have caused damage to the pistons and rods.

you can't really check all your rockers since a full are up and down vice versa. Test it a couple times turn the motor etc. More chance then not its a rocker

ok great. I should also mention that i did replace a rod bearing on #3 because it used to knock. i checked again today and replaced it again, because i noticed that somehow my #3 piston had hit the spark plug and damaged it. I could only guess that my other bearing was the wrong size or somethin, but had just started hitting an i dont know why now of all times. Im going to double check all the rockers but i also know for certain that at one point the piston was hitting the plug. And is it also possible to over tighten a rod cap? i used a torque wrench on the one i replaced but didn check the others and probably should have because the engine cranks kind of slow, and im hoping its just the battery.

there were absolutely no scratches on the crank that needed machining and i only put a std bearing back in which is what came out. You wouldn believe what the knocking was......There was a dam bolt in the #3 Cylinder!!!!!!! The head is back off and there arent any holes or cracks but an exhaust valve was bent. Im having it fixed and put back on. My other question though is that i tried to turn the crank with a ratchet last night with the head off, and i could barely do it. Could it be i over tightened the rod bearings? Because with 0 compression it should easily roll over right?
