I want to see what poeple have and general prices
- tell me what exhaust you have, hp increases if possible
- tell how much, and where you got it
-and tell what size your running in comparison to power
-and how loud it is in comparison
-and why you went that route

Me- first-
- I have a custom Meineki 3" turbo back-1 peice pipe, from flex- to -muffler, $350, awkwardly quite, and b/c it is nice, and relatively cheap- dont know the gains, but pretty obviuos

now everyone else-

Megan 3" Downpipe to a Thermal R&D 3" Catback. Catless, Non-Resonated.

Very deep toned and rumbly. Its very nice to drive with it. and its fairly quiet untill you get on it hard.

Defanitly sounds really good for a 4cyl.

I don't get why so many ppl spend so much money on brand exhaust when you can just get piping and a nice CAT and Muffler for so much cheaper and an exhaust shop?? I just think when it comes to exhaust, intercooler piping, intake, ect, it's so much cheaper to go the custom fabrication route.

agreed...a 3" pipe is a 3" pipe

3" crush bent garbage is not the same as 3" mandrel bent pipe. The stuff you get at Meineke is 3" - 2.5" - 3"- 2.5" - 4" tip. Not many shops do mandrel bending, and the ones that do charge big money for it.

I went the custom route and did a 2.5 turbo back that cost me about 90 bucks. I bought a bunch of prebent pipe from a local shop then took it home and welded it up it fit. Then i wnet to Advance Auto and bought a performece stainless muffler and it sounds great and can def. tell the turbo spools a little bit quicker. I am very happy about it and would never pay $300+ for an exaust system thats just my opinion.

press bent is really not gonna make that much of a difference unless your planning on shooting off to the moon or something ROFL

my car started out as a 93 gs. and i put in a turbo engine and im not sure how different the stock turbo exhaust system is than the stock non turbo 4g63???? right now i have a gutted out cat. converter and a muffler w/ a silencer in and i think ima go and get a bigger muffler because i can tell it has alotta backpressure wit the silencer because it pops and puffs when its reving down. and also because the muffler isnt all that great 2begin with. i bought it 50 off some guy. is this amount of backpressure nessesarily bad for the turbo??? This weekend ima go and get 3 in pipeing ran back but im scared to take off the small sound resonator near the passengerside back tire because i hear once thats off it sounds like crap and thas the last thing i want. And what is the other funny looking converter looking thing right after the cat???? and how will that change the sound once its off because im gettin everythin done at a custom exhaust place.
Also im getting a 3in muffler soon too//

Since we are talking about exhaust here I have a question. When I see some the muffler is at a angle, then others it is strait out the back. Why is this?

I run a 3" Meghan Racing turbo back(w/ no cat) full stainless steel. At idle it sounds beautiful, no loud annoying ricer sound, just a nice quiet, deep rumble. At boost and WOT, it comes alive. Sounds amazing. IMO one of the best exhausts I have ever heard.

Had my 3" exhaust done at a custom shop for $240, fitted with a magnaflow muffler. Sounds good and well worth it.

WTF
There angled sometime for a variety of reasons.
A: Their cheap and just cut the old muffler off and put on a can.
B: The system goes under the rear crossmember and would require tight bends to get the muffler comming out straight.
C: Just for the hell of it. LOL

I have my muffler angled ### it looks GAYDM........i mean JDM......well, my exhaust piping, like most 2G FWD's goes under the rear cross member, and to make the muffler come out straight would have put a serious restriction in the bend. It makes for less bends in the system which improves overall flow. I've included a rough (cave mannish) diagram of the FWD 2G exhuast pipe routing which should clear up the theory.

Nice drawing eastwood :). Speaking of exhausts, anyone have or know where I can find a sound clip/byte of a dsm with an HKS Carbon Ti or Hi Power??? I know on the HKS USA site they have a sound clip of the Carbon Ti on an Evo 7..while its a 4G63, its not the same...

I also went custom, ordered various mandrel bends from summit and a single in, dual outlet oval from summit. Cost about $150 to go from turbo back. I angled my muffler a little bit so it fit the best under the car, had the most clearance from everything. Sounds really good IMO, and I went from 135whp to 150whp using gtech comp, however accurate that is. That was before a lot of my other upgrades in my profile.

135whp? damn the gtech is WAY off or your car is in need of a tune-up.

My eclipse, when it was stock and just an exhaust and boost controller WITH a t25 put down 215whp.

I have the 3" Apexi N1 from the o2 housing back. Don't remember exact price but was close to 1000 for everything including labor. 3" high flow CatConv SS 100, welded into the N1. Tubular o2 housing w/ external dump 125. Everything I ported myself, and the stuff was welded by a hack shop that is no longer in business 100. The exhaust sounds awesome, no rice. Low low low tone at idle, and really cracks under heavy acceleration. Out of the myriad of different exhausts i've heard on these cars this is my favorite, well worth the money. And the only SS is on the muffler and Cat. The rest is coated black and you can really tell it is quality stuff. It uses very thick metal, and the flanges are very beefy. I don't know, I really like the setup, I did a ton of work at once though, so I cant accuratly tell ya power gain from just the exhaust.

nightspeed^^^. i know some people running larger than 3'' exhaust but the only thing that it's going to do is make it louder unless you are running a gigantic turbo that has like a 4'' turbine outlet. i know that a full 3'' turboback will take a dsm well into the 9's. i have a 3'' stainless VRS turboback which i bought from dsmotorsport. they ran this exhaust on the shop car running 10 flat.

maybe not but, a 2.5'' mandrel bent exhaust will outflow a 3'' pressbent exhaust.OMG

I am running a South Flordia Performance T3/T4 header, 2.5" into 3" downpipe, a test pipe, and full 3" N1 system with the 4.5" tip. Also, I have a dump tube off the external wastegate. cant beat it :)

At 6500' altitude yours put down 215whp? Mine stock with exhaust only put 150whp according to gtech competition, I believe it at this altitude.

135whp was stock with no tune up, that was to get a baseline before I started anything.

i have a apexi n1 turbo back exhaust and i love it. at first i was going to get something nobody had because i like to be unique, then i just said f' it and got the apexi because it is deep and does not sound too much like rice. Also, i like how when i am in the car it is still relatively quiet, which i feel makes it unique from other exhaust systems
