I want to see what poeple have and general prices
- tell me what exhaust you have, hp increases if possible
- tell how much, and where you got it
-and tell what size your running in comparison to power
-and how loud it is in comparison
-and why you went that route

Me- first-
- I have a custom Meineki 3" turbo back-1 peice pipe, from flex- to -muffler, $350, awkwardly quite, and b/c it is nice, and relatively cheap- dont know the gains, but pretty obviuos

now everyone else-

I run

ATR Eliminator downpipe into an ATR Pitbull catback
bought used, 3 years ago for 600
3", from O2 housing to tip
It's not overly loud, I was told it was the loudest exhaust you could run on a DSM. It's relatively tame compared to some of my friend's cars.

well its not installed yet but i have the muffler im going to be using and then having 3" pipe done up for a turbo back. and the price of the muffler was right too, cant beat free OMG

Well my car came with cat back exhaust but i have a 3" stainless steal ebay DP going on this weekend which i was told should make it slightly louder but not much for HP gain at the level im at. What ive been told is that upgrading from stock exhaust to 3" area wont make a huge difference at all until you have a good amount of HP.

I saw a dyno of an SRT-4 Stock uprageding to 3" exhaust and it only gained about 3-4WHP.

I got that DP for 120$ ebay ><

I have a 3 inch pipe running to a tanabe super medallion exhaust i bought it for $400 used but in great condition it is so loud i can not hear the radio or anyone talk while im in the car. Im sure i could get a silencer but i love the tone my dad says that my car sounds like it has down syndrome because its so low and deep. oh yeah and it massages my back the whole time i drive. in my opinion its the best exhaust ever.

I ran it right off the turbo. I do have a custom 3" exhaust on it now, but for 4 or 5 months, I ran it right off the turbo. Here is a little video of my car. Its only 17 seconds long.

More modifications done to it since video was taken.

I just received my magnaflow muffler yesterday, it's a 3" inlet with dual 2.5" outlet, so it looks somewhat like a stock muffler----$82.00 and then I'm gonna get a custom 3" turbo back made from a great exhaust shop that does freakin cheap work-----90-150$ and i'm not sure what I'm doing about the cat, i wanna run a test pipe but the shop wont put one on. So yea my exhaust setup should be nice and it's cheap which is always nice! :thumb:

Here's the magnaflow muffler I bought, this is not mine but someone else's on this site, his is also on a 2g and didnt really rev it that high, but you get the idea!

I have the Greddy Evolution II ($$) and a Meghan Racing 2.5"-3" DP. Sounds mean as hell and is louder than my friend's Apex'i. The DP didn't make a difference in noise levels. The thing changes tone when I romp on it. I tell my honda friends it's v-tec.

Planning on a high flow cat soon since I love the environment and I want my kids to not have cancer. I don't have kids, but maybe someday.

i have a fully custom turbo back 2 1/2 inch pipe with a magna flow muffler. i believe it is the same one sivad87 has cost 400 from a friend of mine that professionally races his talon. i also do not have a cat on it. it has a very mellow sound until you get on it.

RNR Racing 3" SS Turboback w/ High Flow Cat and Magnaflow Muffler
$700 from www.rnrracing.com
Loud enough but not too loud and sounds really good at idle
Went with it because it was the best deal I could find on a 3" SS TB system.

Full custom 3" turbo back 1-90Deg. bend on dp to aim it back to the rear of car then 1-13Deg. bend just under the fuel tank to am it up and out the hole on the rear of the bumper with a 3" flex pipe in about the stock location with a 13" glass pack about where the cat and resonator were and a cheep muffler basically a knock off of the Apexi above. But its one of the best sounding DSM's Ive ever heard beside a full 3" titanium kit which costed the guy like $1,300 and Ive heard that many times. I only have about $220 into the hole thing and both bends are mandrel you cant get any better flow than that with out hacking it off or larger pipe. Good luck to ya.

The Srt-4 comes stock with an exhaust system that doesn't have a muffler, and they are also have high flow exhausts from factory

Also, I have a Apexi n1 downpipe and catback on my car with no cat, and when in side the car on the highway its very quiet, and even when you hammer on it, it is reasonably quiet inside the car, but outside the car is a different story. I have had three friends get complaints about a loud car the day after i was there:D as far as exhaust tone, its such a deep sound unlike all those honduhs. Everybody is amazed when i tell them its a 4 cylinder.

Apexi N1 cat-back exhaust w/test pipe. Its kinda loud and very smelly (no cat :shhh: ), but truth be told, I like it that way.

I got it used on ebay for $300 shipped.

Ported 02 housing, 2 1/2 in dp that changes to 3 inch at the flex pipe w/high flow cat, Magnaflow 3.5 in tip out the back. No muffler. I took off my Apexi N1 for 3 reasons, first I wanted a little more tone and sound so we hacked off my muffler to see if how that would sound which brings me to the second reason why. The muffler was rusted through all the way around the edge on the backside and probably leaking fairly bad. Number three reason was because I found out the Apexi N1 muffler has a flange on the inside that necks down to about 2 5/8 in and catches air to muffle it which gives it its sound. I said f*** it and through it away and welded on a tip. It looks faily good actually, but has a much different sound they I expected. It is so loud now that I have to pooch it everywhere I go, mostly cause it sounds like a 4 cylinder with no muffler (Huh.....). It has a lot of back cackle and gargles a lot now and doesn't sound to great below 4k. It sounds OK. When you really rail on it, watch out. It sounds like a saber tooth tiger at full roar. At idle it sounds like a V8. I will get a sound clip up tommorrow if you want. For now here is a clip of my exact exhaust I have now, but with my Apexi on. I am currently in the market for a new one and I think I am gonna go with ATR this time as I hear they are the best throaty and loud exhaust out there for a DSM. I have heard them first hand and it was rediculously deep and had a lot of tone. If you have one and check this thread, please post a clip. Later.

I'm getting my exhaust done Tuesday: 3" SS Turbo Back with magnaflow CAT and magnaflow muffler--that i previously bought, the custom exhaust is only gonna cost $200!!! Looked around for a while and found a shop that does awesome work for cheap! Not bad at all for a 3" SS Turbo back plus $82 for the muffler I bought off ebay, see if you guys can beat that price! :thumb:

Pretty much same thing with my Apexi, I got same setup, except no cat. How I noticed this was from carbon blowing out on the garage floor, but behind the muffler on the welds its pretty nasty, looks like there is some rust starting, and the bottom portion has a small hole in it (which explains the carbon blowing out on the garage floor before the muffler :p). I think the hole/dent is probably from the car being so low and bumping the bottom of the muffler on a big bump or curb, maybe a crappy driveway. I know one time I had a car load of people, and my buddy behind me told me I was throwing sparks from the muffler over bumps haha. At some point I'll probably get it re-welded if it gets really bad, or just get a whole new FULLY stainless steel exhaust system. Otherwise I love it, have no other complaints, sounds awesome, Its not quiet, but I wouldn't say overly loud, has a nice deep tone, long highway trips can sometimes cause annoyance from the constant drone. Everyone else I know thats heard it loves it to, especially drive-bys under heavy acceleration and just idle revving. I believe you get a separate silencer to go on the tip of the muffler, but really, who is going to install that? I think it sizes down the tip to 2in, so kinda defeats the purpose to, unless your in an area where cops suck, then it could come in handy.

If I do ever end up replacing my apexi (probably cause of rust and overall degration), ill probably go with the Espelier 80mm SS Exhaust. Looks promising.

One other thing, if you run no cat (like myself), people behind you get to smell all the lovely crap coming out of your exhaust (had a few friends bi*** about it haha).

Heres how it sounds, should be able to make out some past the music.
http://shockermedia.net/tom/video/laserdyno_NEW.wmv Right click save as please,
it's 20mb.

And what I'm running, 122 2.5" o2 housing $110, megan racing downpipe $120, 4' of straight 3" piping $12, Glass pack $55 and 2 3" mandrel 90's $23. It exits the side of the car by the rear tire, I didn't want to have the restiction of all of the bends in the rear of the car and it's 30-40lbs less than a full system.

APEXi GT downpipe (3"), from extremepsi for like $270 shipped.. power gain was enourmous as was the boost creep.

Buschur 2.5" catback, $free came with car, leaks like a mother and doesn't fit the downpipe at all... sounds nice, but I need a 3", probably an APEXi GT soon. Ground clearance from the bend in the pipe is like 4" on my unlowered car. If I hit a small bump at WOT or launch hard it scrapes.

XS power external dump O2 (2.5"). fits the downpipe and turbine exit perfectly, power gain was also enourmous, boost creep no longer is.:thumb:

No cat, no glass packs, no resonators, that stuff is for people that actually care how it sounds. Mine sounds like crap and is LOUD, but who cares as long as it flows. It should sound better when half my exhaust is no longer being dumped through the mismatched bolt holes between the DP and catback.:tease:
