I recently had a trans and the translab shift kit(Black Spring). I got home from work and decided to check the fluid. I checked to see if there was any fluid leaking when I got to work and again when I got home. There wasnt. :thumb: But anyway I bought some fluid on my way home because I thought I may need some because of possible air bubbles in the trans. Well I noticed the stick had fluid on it(which looked like it just came out of the bottle) I wiped it off and stuck it back in. Bone dry!! So I added 3 quarts to it!! I drove it around the neighborhood and checked for leaks. Sure enough. A few drops. No big deal. Check the stick its barely over the nub on the end. So I buy 2 more quarts. Put it in and both quarts came pouring out the bottom. I immediatly put her up on jack stands and looked around. It "appeared" to come out of the diff on the passenger side. I didnt go feeling around above the axle because at that point I was pissed. So here is my question.

1. Is it really comming out of the diff? Wouldnt All of the fluid come out if it was the diff.

2. I noticed in the manual that there is a idle gear cover above that general area could that be it?

3.On the trans that I swapped I noticed the trans dip stick was broken. So they used the dipstick from my original trans could it be shorter thus the trans actually has more than enough fluid

4. does the trans have a overflow vent/tube of some sort that is dumping the extra fluid.

There is dextron III fluid in her and the fluid and filter was changed when the trans was put in. The trans wasnt warm when the fluid came out. The fluid was cold. But the engine was warm.

No takers huh? Well I put her up again yesterday and started feeling above the passenger side of the diff and it was dry. So its comming out of the diff. Looks like maybe its comming out where the axle goes into the diff. Is that possible??OMG

What you need is to put some ultraviolet dye into the transmission and using a black light see where the lime green trail leads you.

Also, check in neutral instead of park.

Just to update. I took at my old trans yesterday. And there is a rubber seal that the drive shaft goes into. Im certain thats what the problem is. I got my trans guy looking at it tomorrow so we'll see. Thanks for the info old mitsu tech:thumb:

Last update. Well, it was leaking because of the driveshaft actually came out a few inches which caused the seal in the diff not to seal properly so the flud came out almost as fast as I could add it. So there we go. Thanks:tease: :dsm:
