95 Talon tsi. I put a Vr Speed Factory fmic on about a week ago. The UICP was flanged for a 1g or greddy bov. I put on a 1g that I bought in foresight when planning the fmic install. After the fmic install, I noticed a LACK of power and a new whistling coming from the motor under 10-14 psi. Not to mention my 1g bov sounds like an Ocarina. I put together a boost leak tester and when I hooked up the compressor, air came dumping out of the bottom of the bov flange. I'm 95% sure that it is coming out of the little hole on the bottom of the valve and making its way through the SUPER elongated bolt hole on the flange for the BOV. The flange seems pretty sloppy to me. Is this leak because of a bad 1g bov or is it because that vent hole is exposed via sloppy flange?

Spray it with soapy water and see where it leaks. If the flange on the UICP is damaged, then you'll see it leaking there.

BTW my 1G BOV seems loud too, but I wasn't sure if it was the valve, because I switched to a 2g MAF and hard intake pipe at the same time. If you are leaking back into the intake pipe via the recirc. tube, you may need to polish corrosion off the valve seat. They tend to get pretty cruddy if they sit.

I used a little ring of ultra fine wetsanding paper, and a valve lapping tool.

Its not the flange thats leaking. Its the little hole on the bottom of the bov. The air is purging out. I cant even get my gauge to read 2 psi.

That is commonly where they do leak out, but usually around the 18-20psi mark and its nothing major. You can "crush" it to hold a little more or do the "ddg" mod
DDG- Talon BOV mod for HIGH BOOST
This doesn't sound like the performance of a stock 1g bov that is functioning properly though.
Also, unbolt the bov to be sure it didn't break like one i had on my car. Keep in mind this thing still held boost though:coy:
