1G Leak Down Without Oil Pan

Hey eveyone,

Im looking for some first hand experience here. Do I need to bolt up the oil pan to accurately get leak down test results? Im getting around a 40% leak right now after some serious lapping and I'm trying to make sure Im not doing the test wrong. I dont have my oil pan back from welding and Im wondering if anyone can provide some insight.

Why would you need it? You're testing a leak inside the cylinder. If anything youd be able to spot bad rings more easily.

Oil pan has no effect on leakdown test.
