lash adjusters out of head - no spring action

I pulled my head and removed the cams, rockers and lifters. After cleaning the lifters in parts cleaner, they move up and down with no spring action (very easy). I watched the VFAQ. Is this the way 1G lifter are supposed to be or do I need new lifters?

BTW: My lifters were fairly quiet when the car was running.

Also: I have two bent valves. Does that mean that I definately need new guides for those two valves?

Put them in a cup of oil and pump them up. If they do not get hard they are junk and you need new ones. When puting in new or old lifters you must bleed them out. If you do not know how to do that, search it and youll find it.

As far as the valve guides you should be ok, but i would take the whole head to a machine shop and have them check it out before puting it back togather
