Okay, i know there are threads about this somewhere, but im heading out to work and ill just check this thread out when i get home =)

1. okay, so i know the correct way is to take timing belt off and cams/cam gears and all that jazz but i was wondering if this way is fine too.. ill buy the tool and not going to be using the screw driver trick.

2. If im replacing one lifter, do i have to replace all the lifters? im using the 3gs. i was just going to replace the ticking 2 lifters.

3. I have to get all the oil out of the new lifters first then put them in correct? i don't get all the oil out then put new oil in and put them in correct?

4. after i replace the lifters with the 3g lifters, there should be lifter tic untill the lifters get oil in them right? i don't wanna crank the motor over and get scared shitless haha..

5.. UNTILL; i do this, can lifter tic hurt my car at ALL? like if i let the car sit at cold start and let the oil get to the lifters, then drive. Am i okay?

6. People around me say lifter tic can cause rod knock.. and a kid that had an eclipse around me said he had lifter tic for 3 months then got rod knock.. well its my 3rd month.. will i get this crazy rod knock ?

Thanks =) sorry for asking all these questions!
if you can number your answers!!

2. highly recommend to replace all the lifters, since you'll have the tool and you already have the valve cover off.

3. there are a lot of tricks to fill the lifters up with oil, you can do that search. you should be able to push the lifters slightly by your fingers.

4. it will tick for a couple of minutes until all the lifters are filled with oil and should go away.

You can make that tool with sheet metal from Home Depot, I did.

You only have to replace those few that tick, if you find them.

You bleed the lifters by getting all the oil out of them that they come with when new.

You will hear lifter tick when you first start the engine. I like to start the engine and keep at 2k RPMs for about 5-10 mins.

1. Yes, that way is acceptable, considering I am the one who made that video :p
2. Replace them all. You can buy a full set for under $80 on eBay.
3. You need to fully bleed the lifters before installing them. You will know if they're fully bled if you're able to depress them fully with your fingers.
4. You're correct. Mine ticked for 2-3 days I believe and then it went away.
5. Lifter tick shouldn't hurt your car (at least I've never heard of it).
6. I can't say I've ever heard of this.

Here's some articles you should check out.

When I replaced my lifters, I just removed the cam caps and pulled them out. If the last ones near the gear where depressed by the cam, then I manually turned the motor over

yeah i would remove the cam caps and everything but im not trying to make any unnessessary moves when i could just order the tool =)

i saw it was you that made the video =) very nice video by the way, real informative.
ill be trying this way in a month or two when i put the gst away
