lash adjuster question

are they suppsed to compress or be solid?i have a few that compress and the rest are solid.most are solid though.thanx.

Where are they? If the lifters are still in the head, and they feel soft when you push them, then they've gone bad. If they're in your hands they might feel soft if some oil has drained out. Once they're full of oil they should be hard.
