Any of you guys using the 1gb Laser front bumper with your front mount set-up? I don't know whether or not to hack the bumper or to try and find a black Talon bumper with the grey bottom. I'm trying to figure out how to cut it so it doesn't look like shit yet still have airflow to the radiator. Any suggestions? Pics? search results?

just cut more holes the same size as the oem holes
just above the oem holes
Have you seen the Laser bumper? It's shaped quite odd, unlike the Talon/Eclipse bumper with the mouth opening all the way through it.

Maybe I can add a pic, let's see.

Without looking around to find a head on shot of a laser I came up with this. Just a quick job to give you an idea.

Thanks for the chop, exactly what I was looking for, or sort of. I don't want to hack it like that but I'm trying to find a way to cut it. I'll snap a head-on picture and see if someone could chop it.

Yeah maybe it was a bit much :D . More of a chop for if you were stuffing one of the huge SBR intercoolers in there ROFL . I would try to find a talon bumper, or maybe just cut the front 6 holes so there are only 3. As well you could cut the top edge of the bumper inside the holes flush with the front, so some air can get above the front mount and into the top of the rad.

I did 3 chops pretty quick. If you don't even slightly like any of them then your probably best off getting a talon bumper.

Here's mine - Spearco 2-221, tilted back a bit,
bumper support only required small cuts:

Yeah kind of what I was looking for but I just didn't want to hack to much of it. I hacked my old Eclipse bumper and it was somewhat flimsy. I'm not worried about the bumper support, I cut mine in half so now I just have the 2 sides of it, so I have a place to hold the bumper.

Thanks so far guys.

:laser: i switched to a 94 talon bumper, the laser bumper just was not for me, the intercooler looked out of place sitting behind that bumper no matter how much material i cut off to enhance appearance... :laser:

^^^ I totally agree I absolutly hate the laser front bumber. But I'm just worried that if I switch to a talon front bumber that there not going to beable to color match my 16 year old paint.

Also does the talon bumber just bolt right up? Or do you need to change headlights? Cut anything?

there was no modification done to use the talon bumper skin, but i used the talon side skirts along with the bumper to give the car a wider look.. but i kept the back bumper and tail lights to show the heritage of the car, our lasers are rare. lets be real, no one bought them, because they are as ugly as sin. compared to it's sibling's the eclipse and talon.. the laser has alot left to be desired in the looks department. all the eclipses and talons i have ever bought were from people my age in good condition. the one laser i bought was from an old cuban farmer that used to pull cow sh!t in it.. people have no respect for our lasers

I think the laser bumper is the best looking of all 1g's. I wouldn't put a talon bumper on, it would throw of the look of the car. Believe it or not but the there is actually a lot of airflow through the bumper. And the laser keeps the FMIC hidden pretty well. The bumper only covers about an inch of the top of my Punishment core.

Hey I don't agree with this. I think the laser is the best looking 1ga (I've had all 3). I think the taillights/rear of the laser is awesome looking. I like my little molded mud flap things too LOL. I was considering cutting another oval above the other ones on the bumper, but it would mostly just expose the crash beam.

Agreed, I also think the laser front bumper looks nice, how was your punishment intercooler install 1stGenTSi, btw nice laser

it does throw the look off, that is why i used the talon side skirts with the front bumper, but in my personal opinion.. laser front bumpers with front mounts should be on def comedy jam, it just looks really funny to me... you two have a laser bumper on your laser, so you will have your opinion, but if we had to go to sales numbers and a broadened spectrum of opinions, the rest of the world would tell a different tale... and i guess since i have a talon front bumper on my car its not a nice laser.. thats okay its whats on the inside that counts...

Install was ok, I had to trim more of the bumper cover than I would have liked and the intercooler pipe sits too close the alternator but overall it turned out well.
1stGenTSi is that there 1G 8" short route street kit?
Yes.

Has anybody tried cutting the two parts in the middle out and making them flush with the rest of the bumper. I need to figure something out for the time being I personally hate the laser front bumper, I dont want to put a different front bumper on the car untill I can afford to get the whole car painted and some of the dents taken out.
