Might be a dumb question but Im stumped.
I ordered the 2g studs that go in the inlet of the EvoIII IM part#MD161757
They dont seem to screw in all the way until they hit the end where they should stop against the backing.
Is that the wrong part #???

That is the correct part number. Are you threading them in by hand or double nutting them in?

Just curious, but why don't you just use the ones that are on your 2g mani right now? You can use the double nut method to remove them quite easily.

ROFL trying my hand out guess thats why its not working

Bec the mani is on my car It was like $2 from Satan for the parts. Im getting it all put together right now. I have the EvoIII intake manifold the coil bracket w/ coil packs, the ignitor, support bracket, and my Steve Monroe 1g n/t TB :rocks:

nobody has any dyno #'s yet? well im also using a 2g head and evo manny on my stock 6bolt and im loving it. havnt got any #'s yet but i will real soon, the most air flow i have seen so far is 57lb a min with my 3052 at 30psi with 280's on the link.....i dont have a real dyno #'s yet but i have raced my frainds talon and he makes 460awhp and i pull him in my full weight gvr4( no ac and radio) from a roll..so i sould have a solid 500whp. the car holds 55+lbs all the way to 8k and dosnt stop pulling. i get 30psi around 4k-4300rpm and power is very smooth, car is on e85 with 850's and a rewired single wally and the afs are 12.3-12.7 at 8k with 60psi fuel pressure.

Do you have any logs I could look at of this?

well i dont know how to post the logs, i tried to get on the link forums but they arnt allowing any new menbers. well i try to post a pc o my set up and the log.

 I don't think that is true. As long as you have proof of purchase they should let you on. If you bought it second hand and the previous owner did not contact them about the change of ownership I could see them not letting you on. At any rate you need to get on there, the forum is a great wealth of knowledge.

I think that he's referring to the fact that their website is being updated right now. It's possible that they weren't allowing new registration to the forum during the update period.

Holly crap I just went out into the garage to look at the intake on my Talon and I already have a evo intake on my car. I was planning on swapping the manifold out for a stock 2g manifold because the manifold on the car did not have the boss for the mdp sensor and there is no egr valve on the intake or a place to put one. Now Im glad I ran across this thread untill I saw the pics of the evo manifolds I was thinking the guy that owned the car before me had swaped on some type of N/A manifold and I was going to swap it out. Now I just got to figure out what for T/B is on the car I know its not a stock 2G T/B because the upper I/C pipe connects directly to the T/B with a hose there is now T/B elbow bolted to the T/B

Ran one of these for the past 2 years. Was good, but now im swapping to a 1g head, if anyone wants to buy mine, let me know.

I took these a while ago, but just recently got off my ass and had them put on a CD. Obviously, I'm comparing the Evo 8 IM to the Evo 3 IM. I'm sure by now you can tell which is which.

I do have the numbers around somewhere, just not right at this moment. But the Evo 8 plenum is definitely shorter in overall length than its counterpart. I'll have to get back with you on that one.

And here are a few shots of the plenum mouth and throat of each. The first two are of the Evo 8, and the last shows the Evo 3. Very similar. With my rough estimates, the plenums both basically have the same inside and outside diameter.

Nice. You selling an evo3 intake mani or know where i could finds one ? I heard these bolt on to our 2g heads with no problem and flow just as good as 1g mani's.

Someone informed me that in their "testing" the evo3 intake manifold inhibited airflow above 4k rpms as opposed to help it.

Has anyone blocked off the runners and filled both with fluid to see which one holds more/less volume?

I am not saying i believe this.

Also, it'd be nice if a moderator cleaned this thread up, it has a lot of unnecessary posts in it... like it's a classifieds ad or something. People need to understand this thread is for information, not for some ebay auction you found.... or a part you no longer need. I read through all 15 pages of this thread the other day and I had to skip over a lot of posts that didn't add anything because of people saying stuff like... "OMGOMGOMGOMG where can i find one of these," instead of looking on ebay themselves for one... or calling local japanese engine importers in their local area.

I'll be listing my EVO3 IM for sale soon

It's off a 95 GSR.

And no you don't lose power at all. It makes a HUGE difference over the stock mani. Power is very broad, and definetly unrestricted.

I've found the manifold to assist in making some pretty ridiculous power above 6500 rpms.
It is a little soft below 3000 rpms, but above that the gains are a solid 20 h.p. more or less.
Above 6500 rpms its more like 40 h.p. and higher depending on where you shift.

Volume is non-relevant. The plenum is actually much smaller than the 2g intake manifold.
What is relevant is the fact the runner length/diameter/taper is tuned for higher rpm duty which empirically works out great.

Thank you, that's exactly what i thought someone would say. It's funny when a reputable engine builder that deals with almost nothing except turbo 4g63s and messes with all types of different oem parts tells you something like this.

Bastard DSM was using one on a 2g head w/ a 6bolt block in a vr4 galant... he's local to me... and he made good power... hmmm. Trying to throw me off the scent of having good parts I guess.

Oh, I was also told, "did you read that on the internet?" with a smirk like the internet isn't a reputable source for info... There ARE computer savvy people that build cars and know their stuff too...

Evo 3 plenum length - 11.375 to 11.4375 inches
Evo 8 plenum length - 10.25 inches
Difference between both - roughly 1.125 inches

What is everyone doing with their MDP sensors? I just have a vacuum line spliced from the FPR going to mine and I tried to use silicone to make it more secure but that didn't seem good enough.

Does anyone have a better solution?
