Lancer Evolution III Intake Manifold

How in the hell would that thing work??
Ok I understand that the banjo bolt goes in the EGR location at the flange but with that set up it looks like there was a rubber or material hose that ran to the intake tract before the throttle body. Very strange as I would think the exhaust gasses would destroy such material. I also notice that it is the EGR DISCHARGE that would be this material so it would not be under the constant heat of the exhaust. If we are trying to make this system work, wouldn't it coat the throttle body and all vacuum lines fed off the TB with carbon?
Also that looks to be a single action EGR valve. I know that ours are double and that is how the car determins the EGR is funtioning.

Ok Guys,
My mani arrived last week and I just got around to post some pics. Let me know what you guys think - good deal for $65.01 shipped? Also, the guy sent me his coil pack. Is it a US or JDM spec coil/bracket - I'm thinking it's JDM but can someone confirm? He never sent me the ignitor, can I use my OEM one or ask the seller to send me the one for that coil pack (in the picture)??

FYI - I can't compare it to my Eclipse right now as my car is in storage at an off site facility

Thoughts on how to fix that snapped of vacumm nipple?

Also, thoughts on the TB? It's in really ruff shape and it won't open??? What should I do with it?

Thanks

Peepers-

That Manifold and TB came from an RVR.
TB is no good. you can go with stock 2g, but you should go bigger while you have the opportunity. Try a 1G-T TB.
please don't use the word "JDM". It makes my uncontrollable inner voice tell people how retarded that is.

Yes, that coil pack Is from that manifold and will mount with no problem. you can re-use your ignitor.

After I typed all that I want to say that I hate you.

Because you have the rear brace.:p

Why? It's a worthless POS that doesn't need to be there. Won't find me stressing about not having one.

I will not install mine till I find a brace for it. had a buddy try taking that short cut.
not only did he develop boost leaks along the top of the flange but when he tried to tighten the bolts to seal the leaks, the bolts just turned. seams the weight of the IM and torque of the engine throwing it up and down stripped the threads.
I'd rather be safe than :(

sd_ff22 (Dan),
Excuse my ignorance but why were you upset that I used the term "JDM"? Also, what's a "RVR"?? I've never heard of that term before?? How does the "RVR" compare to an EVOIII manifold?

Thanks

I think people hate the "JDM" term because of all the Honda boys & how its falsely/over used but I think in this case it would be a correct use as this coil pack is limited to the Japanese domestic market, is it not?

RVR is a sort of Mitsu Mini Van/Cross over vehicle that was powered by a 4G63 & believe there's some info on it (& pics) earlier in this thread (or is it one of the other evoIII mani threads?) It seems as though its the same intake mani as the evoI & evoII. It's also all the same specs as the evoIII intake as far as runner & plenum size & design but the evoIII mani has a 60mm TB opening vs the 54mm opening. Also the evoIII has an additional vacuum port on the end of the plenum & already has the hole drilled in the head flange for the EGR system.

thats exactly why I hate that term.
I hit a guy in the eye yesterday just for saying it;)
oh and the RVR was used in the UK too. so were the EVOs.
that makes them not "jdm"

...

God, I even want to hit MYSELF when I type "jdm"...

...I did it again.

Also, you can tell it's from an RVR because the TB cable is on the wrong side.

Over the past 6 months or so I have been watching eBay closely. I see quite a few of these circulating around. Not sure if this current trend is an abnormality or if it's normal (because I never took much interest in eBay for the longest time).

If it matters to anyone, that manifold is from an RVR. I sent an email asking a few questions and he's pretty adamant that its evo3. says that he bought a whole engine from an importer, and it that says evo3 on his receipt. However the turbo was tdo4, and TB was 52mm

sd_ff22,
I only think one barb is missing clearly seen broken off in the picture I posted. Where's the second one you reference?

anyone have a rear brace(evo/rvr) they want to sell?

When I changed my old starter this past fall, I needed to take off the 2G IM brace to do so. I never put it back on and I have not had any issues by doing this (nor was I expecting any). Ask GRNDSM about this and he'll tell you the same thing.

you sure its evo3?
be sure to check all the tell tale signs to make sure you didn't get jipped. don't forget that the evo 1 looks very similar but has the de-tuned(2g) cams.

good luck!

I am the one who requested more pictures.
it is not an evo3IM. It is from an RVR. The seller will not accept the truth.OMG
Doesn't REALLY matter, but its still false advertising.
