Koni warranty any good?

I took my car in and they said my rear shocks need replacement and are leaking. How's Koni about replacing shocks? Anyone go thru the process before?

Koni has a lifetime warranty if I'm not mistaken.

Gotta ask though, why did you stop here before calling Koni?

It's a manufacturing-defect warranty, not a buy-one-set-and-Koni-will-rebuild-them-forever-for-free warranty.

Shocks wear out over time. Its just like that lifetime brake pad warranty that tricks most idjet people into buying them. Warrantied if a rivet breaks or something but a seal is prob ably just considered wear and tear non coverable.

The rears are rusting pretty bad and the paint is flaking off. I'm honestly not sure if the shock is bad, but it has a lot of oil coming down from it. It's been like that for a couple years.

It sounds like you probably are buying some new shocks if your real particular about your car. Blown shocks usually wont hurt anything unless there real bad and causing your tires to cup. Its really just maintenance to replace a leaking shock.

So you believe that despite a lot of oil leaking from the shock, it is still good?

Its not still good but it likely wont hurt anything if you leave it leaking. If it was a daily driver / beater I would leave it. If it was my track car I would fix it.

Clean it up and look into getting it rebuilt.

Call koni ASAP and see if they will fix it. If not start looking for replacements.
