Knowledgeable DSMers what do you think of this tubular manifold

i hope u get a legit answer. as i am very interested in a tubular manifold also. i dont want to spend an arm and a leg. thats a very good price and i think it would look really nice in my engine bay. im going for the stock/sleeper engine bay. everything is black/gunmetal.

looks badass. but in reality its probably cheap/too cheap. Besides that the runners are long ,which the 2g manifold might be better becuase of the shorter runners and get rid of the air quicker /betterspool up. Also it depends on the collector. Can some one help me post a pic, cause i got thids custom manifold thats just like a stock 2g but its tubular and is polished stainless steel and i would like to post it as an example of what i'm tryin to say ?

Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=2468008024

Thanks for any input you may have.

IMO i think thats neither essential for stage 1 or 2 mods. Shit a fmic only comes into play in stage 2 or 3 . You can definetely get away with porting your stuff: exh. mani , o2 housibg, etc.... until you get to stage 3,4,5. It is nice and cheap price but probably not that effective untill you need to go tubular on everything.

I was looking into manifolds because the tuning guide on this site suggests upgrading after doing a turbo back exhaust system:

"Exhaust Manifold
The exhaust manifold can be ported, or can be replaced with a tubular style header that flows better. "

If I don't yet need a new manifold, how much can I expect to pay to hace the stock 2g one ported.

^^ anywhere from 50 -100. depend on shop and time put into it. Or you can buy a porting bit and do it yourself for $20 for the bit. You need a drill. It all depends on what you want. Power ? or power and good looks ? If you just want power and dont give a shit how your engine bay looks, like most dsmers (i dont mean clean or dirty) then port the stock mani. If youre like me and want power /looks/bling bling/etc... then get the tubular its a cheap price , however ive seen other ones on ebay for around $150 new also.

keep in mind there are 1g dmers out there running 16g's with a stock 2g manni hitting high low twelves, and can probably do better without having to port or replace the manifold.

^^ thatys funny i bought one from them before it was aalllrrriggghhttt. But i sent it back cause the flange was on wrong. They had on on ther for 279 yesterday that bolts up to mitsu turbos, 14,16,25,20....etc.

pacesetter piece of shit manifolds. search for them and laugh your ass off.

I have the pacesetter on my car and have no problems with it, and know many who are running it and have no problems with it. Their are a few bad stories abotu them, but with wthe 3 year warranty, I think it is worth the chance. DEFINITE gain over the 2g manny in spool up and top end. Track times pending..... (it is snowing ?!?!?!?!)
I hate Cleveland weather:thumbdown

Thanks for the responses. Is anyone else using one of these eBay exhaust manifolds, what gains or problems have you experienced what else have you used in the past and would you recommend getting it.

The SSSautochrome one is a very nice piece, unfortunately they have a square collector. NO its a not a t4 flange. It bolts to mitsu turbos.

All I can say is your gonna end up with some crazy turbulance.

Although the pacesetter headers can and will crack, with a little beefing up of the welds they are very good manifolds.
Do not buy them off of ebay, which seems to be more of a place for con artists anymore.

The pacesetter headers can be purchased from summit for like $130.
I've seen them in person they look descent, and come with a 7cm flange to boot. They do come with a 3 year warrenty in the event that your welding skills can no longer hold them together

Just a problem your always gonna face with turbocharged cars.
I don't care what anybody says! EVERY manifold, even the heavy cast iron manifolds are gonna crack sooner or later. :thumb:

agrreed. I thinkthe ones they put on ebay are the half ass ones. On ther other hand DSMJIM : Ive seen the pics in the link above and all i can say is when i purchased the mitsu flanged one the collector was alot better than that one , but the other things were pretty much the same. The tubing is a little thin

And also $130 is cheap as shit and definetely woth a chance as stated above, but you get wat you pay for. Probably better off witha new ported 7cm evo manni for $200.

When heated heavily, mild steel scales (flakes). These scales meet your turbine fins. Goodbye turbo. Yet another reason to not buy this POS.\

I've heard SS Autochrome ones are not good either. Don't skimp out here guys, your just asking for trouble. Yes it has a 3 year warranty, but do you realy want to take your manifold to get fixed every month?

Oh by the way, Summitt sells the pacesetter manifolds for $130

It's the same old story. You get what you pay for. My brother bought an SS Autochrome manifold for his SR20DET engine and it didn't even fit as he had to cut the manifold and file the head to get it in. It didn't look as bad as the DSM one but it wasn't great looking either. Pacesetter is shit also. If you have to re-weld it, it is a piece of shit end of story. The tubular manifolds also raise the underhood temperatures considerably and sometimes can even melt the fan shrouds, O2 sensor wiring, etc. Just get a ported 2G manifold and forget about the "bling" "bling".

$235 for a POS pacesetter, don't get taken advantage. The moment I saw one of these I laughed, poor collector and crappy welds score no points for Pacesetter, fabrique en Mexico.

I don't think my DNP header will crack. It looks nicer then the SLP headers I have on my WS-6. check my pic in the gallery.

I just saw the manifold on ebay and have never heard of pacesetter before and was wonder if it could really be a good manifold for cheap as heck. but I think I am going to either port my 2g or get a ported EVO one. Is there a difference between the EVO and the 2g manifold structurally or anything? If I did decide to just port my own mani is that really all that hard of a task, I'm sure there is an vfaq for it, right?

Dude, I'd go with a non ported EVO manifold before that.... A tubular mani for that cheap. I smell something, and it sure as hell isn't what the Rock is cookin. Either get a ported evo mani for around the same price, or save some more money for the DNP one.

Please, they all will crack just a matter of time.
If 2g manifolds crack so will any tubular header, last time I checked cast iron was a little stronger than steel. Stainless steel will still flake just takes longer for the process to happen. Would you like to see my old exhaust system?

Don't get me wrong I myself will be getting a dnp for my talon soon. But some day I'm gonna have to get it repaired. Will it be one even two years from now? Probably not, but I can imagine someday it will.
Rapid expansion and contraction (heat), puddles, corrosion, weight of turbocharger, shaking of engine in the powerband its all gonna occur, and I'd have to question some of your guys intelligence who think otherwise. I for one always thought metal gets briddle when super heated then cooled off quickly.

I am beggining to think some of you see some of these great products and suddenly they are immortalized "nothing can touch them" IE: ported 2g, mangus intake, hks 272's, (<-which are great) and the moment someone goes hey look at this new product its the same old thing. "Just stick with this blah blah" I notice this trend alot from people who have no prior experience and merely just repeat things they have read before. Therefore adding a bunch of useless crap to these forums.
I remeber about 2 years ago when I first posted some pictures of the dnp manifold when it was unknown. Few people were nice bling bling, and a few as I recall said just stick with a ported 2g! Hah funny how things turn out isn't it?

And before someone decides to start a flame war read my posts and read them again. I'm starting to notice a trend of people questioning me when they have no concept of what I just said.

BTW dsmturboawd your many pointless posts to boost your rating are getting annoying. :thumbdown
