I am currently in the beggining stages of making a knock sensor warning light with audible warning . I am currently looking fo rthe threshold limits and the frequency generated by the knock sensor . I have made quite a few products before and any information will help . Any technical data on the knock sensor will provide me with a basis for circuitry . Any one with hard confirmed data can email me and I will put them at the top of my list.

The DSM EPROM Disassembly project people have been working on might provide some information. I know eproms can be made to read knock sum on the stock boost gauge. Given that info they might know something about it. Maybe search for DSM Disassembly or DSM EPROM. There was a big thread about it..might have been called something like hack the world.

For this to work right, you need to run good digital signal processing, in addition to some calibration routines. You'll also probably need to allow the user to adjust the sensitivity, often known as the noise threshhold for knock.

Thanks guys . I am still looking into some more specifics . Such as the actual current or frequency emitted during differnt sums Such as 0-3 and 3-10 and then when it gets way to excessive . I will keep searching .
