Knock Rattle near Valve Cover?????HELP

I went and logged a 3rd gear pull and after slowing down and placing the car in neutral the car died. I started it back up and felt a loss in power when attempting to accellerate and noticed a rattle. Oil pressure seems to be the same and vaccum is 1-2 psi lower. I don't know if its a rod bearing collapsed lifter or what. Any input would be appreciated. Im letting the car cool down as we speak and im going to pull off the valve cover. But there is a significant decrease in power which makes me think it a collapsed lifter or other problem associated with the head and the car wants to stall.

A good friend just had this exact same problem in his 99 gsx. He thought it was a collapsed lifter but it turned out not to be, it was in fact rod knock.

Same thing just happend to my friend. He only has like 400 miles on the bottom end. We started noticing a loud knocking noise, at first thought it was siezed lifters. He pulled the pan today, notice that it was a spun rod bearing. I'd check the bottom end.

Find out which cylinder the noise is coming from and pull that spark plug with the motor running. If the noise stops, it's related to the bottom end since the load has been taken off of it. If the noise continues, it's likely a collapsed lifter.
