I have a little problem. When I drive the car it is just fine and runs well. The problem is when I get on the gas it does well the first couple of times. Sense I have the dsmlink check engine light come on at 1* of timing, I can tell visually when the car is pulling timing. After I gun the car once maybe twice, the check engine light will come on to show timing being pulled but I am still under 3000rpms with a sc61, no boost... just normal driving. When I shift or let go of the gas while driving normally the knock stops, but it should not be pulling 1* timing while I'm just normally driving and revving slowly to 3000rpms to save gas??? I think it might just be the knock sensor or something? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I wanna know why it is happening in the first place. I know dsmlink helps when it comes to phantom knock, but I would like finding the root of the problem.

Check to see if your knock sensor is tight to the block. Like the other fella's wrote, Phantom knock is made by noise elsewhere. Noisy lifters, somthing rattling, many things cause it. Also caused by running too rich and also too lean. Many people just use the link to ignore it, In most cases knock at low RPM is either not harmfull or non-existant. Pop the sensor out and check it, maybe borrow a buddy's sensor that you know works properly to see what happens.
