So here's the low down. Car is a 91' Galant VR-4.

NO BOOST LEAKS
GM MAF
Link V3 Full
Factory 450cc injectors
New Bpr6es
Stock boost
New knock sensor.
14b turbo.
ECU rebuilt in 2011

I've been spending a lot of time trying to get the idle correct in this car, I'm not new to Link but I'm no pro either. Non of my previous cars have given me this much trouble as far as idle goes...

Now that I've got the idle half way decent, Its time to start cruise tuning. Unfortunately EVERY time I touch the throttle the car throws 14+ counts of knock...
At any rpms, at any load, at any Throttle position the car knocks and knocks and knocks.

I've adjusted fuel and timing to try and compensate for the knock with absolutely no luck. I'm a bit frustrated here because this car is mostly stock and should not be acting like this...

I've attatched an idle log with me blipping the throttle with no load on the motor... Can anyone make heads or tails of this?!

ABSOLUTELY ANY INFORMATION IS APPRECIATED!

Sounds like a wiring issue possible bad or frayed wires to the knock sensor, any rattles maybe something knocking around in the engine bay.

THIS!!!!

if you want to eliminate actual knock from Phantom. an easy way is to get some Good octane booster and fill it with super. if Knock goes away then tuning or cloged injectors/fuel system restrictions. if not then you know its the above.

I like this advice!!

Wiring has definitely been a thought. A lot of the wiring has been very brittle to the touch up to this point.

I suppose the best way to check for a bad connection would be to Ohm the knock sensor to the ECU? It'll be a few days before I'm able to take another look at it.

I found this car in a barn, and the entire suspension was shot when I purchased it, I figured it was causing the knock as well. However I've replaced most of the front suspension as far as anything clunking around with no luck.

If you overtorque a knock sensor, it becomes overly sensitive. The peizo crystal inside it is greatly affected by the pressure it has on it. I mention that because your first post says new knock sensor. Sounds like a phantom to me since you'd have to be running some insane timing or be ridiculously lean to knock that much at that low of a load. I can't open your log, so my advice is more of an educated guess. Is your block noisy in general?

I had a problem with a bunch of knock when tuning at first too. it ended up being my knock sensor wasn't torqued down enough and it was in the wrong location. The sensor should be in between cylinders 2 and 3. I was new and it was my first build.LOL I'd check the torquing and location

Block is not overly noisey IMO. There is some lifter noise but nothing out of the ordinary. I will double check the torque of the knock sensor. However I was having the same issue with the last Knock sensor I had.

Car is very rich... around 7.8-8.0 at WOT... I've heard of rich knock but I don't feel this is the same.

I'll be working on the car tomorrow night and will have a few more answers.

Thanks for the help guys!
