I was all set to order cams last Monday but decided to hold off as I'm not 100% sold on which set to get after reading a post about a some saying the K280s(Delta's version of the Kelford 280s) didn't really net that much of a gain over his old BC288s. On the other side though I have yet to see anyone really running these King Kams. I'm looking for anyone running either cam to chime in let me know how each works for you and what your setup essentials are. I'm looking for a 800whp cam that will compliment the powerband of a gt4294 built to rev HIGH.

I to am interested in the KK's. On this site there is only one person that I know of that has FFWD KK's. I'm not sure if his car is running yet. His screen name is Maglin. You won't find anyone else running those cams on here.

I've been away for a very long time. I have the KK's dialed in on the new motor. I've been away at school for the past 6 months for another air force job. When I return I should have the car done by November sometime and on the dyno in December. I do plan to see how far these cams go before dropping off in power. If they happen to still be making power at 11K I'll take it to 12, but only on the dyno. I actually couldn't sleep today because I was thinking of my car and ran across your thread.

The spec's are pretty nuts for a 4 cly cam. I actually have them phased 10* apart for engine break-in. I don't want that nasty overlap to cause me idle problems while I'm getting the rough tune and engine break in. I was looking for a 800+ WHP cam that would be making power in the 10-11K range. I talked with FFWD for sometime and went with these over a set of BC288's that I had in the garage. I also got the beemad springs with them as well as I didn't really trust the BC springs to rev to 11K+. I hope to have a bunch of nice things to say about these cams and the HX-52 once the car is finished.

The BC288s are rather low on the totem pole compared to even K272s let alone the 280s.

I think the real rumor people want squashed is if these are indeed FP5r/FP11 copies.

Claiming the are just regrinds etc a few people advised me not to run them. But I pulled the trigger. These are definitely not regrinds. I will be running FFWD KK's and BeeMAD's. Terry at Class One Inc went over several different cams specs with me. Fp5r's, my old fp 4r, crane race cams, Kelford 280's, etc. KK'S aren't the most aggressive cams out but they ain't no punk LOL. Terry advised me there is NO cam out there like these. These are the first cams for a dsm he's seen to give all the specs. Which says a lot about FFWD! I mean detailed specs and not just advertised duration. He was actually impressed! Being slightly aggressive they aren't for most but they are perfect for my New setup and should compliment it nicely.

When I took the cams out of the box they had a strange texture and looked odd. If you notice in the pic I posted how the cams look black. I didn't realize FFWD Parkerize the cams. Which is a plus.

I have just been informed for the time being I may have the last set of the King Kams. Seeing there are no reviews I look forward to seeing how they perform and posting my review :thumb:. Hopefully they will be released.

What springs did you get with those? The Beeee Maaaaadddssss?

Those cams look gnarly as ####, hope your trans is ready to be shifted at 10k+
These cams profiles are amazing LOL. Shocked no one really ran them. The goal for my new motor is efficiency with a nice powerband (not just topend)!! I still want a street car so i don't want or need the most aggressive duration. That being said, on every level these cams elephant sh*t on Kelford TX280's specs ROFL. And you know I just had to get a side order of them BEE-MADS along with them ;).

Trans is same as last year and ready to shift wherever it needs me to go. TRE stage 4 with billet 4th gear. He has the trans. I'm getting the diff welded and he's going over everything.

Is king kams just the name give to the kelford clones?

The kelford clones from delta cams are made from blanks due to the increased lift.
no king kams are not Kelford clones LOL. Just as they are not fp 5r nor Fp 5r/11r clones.
Nor are they GSC 3 clones.

I've been in contact with Darren since 09 about these cams. A little less then a year after I got my Fp4R cams. This is what he emailed me then. Not really anything to compare the KKs to really. The drawing board was cleared and specs were created. Didn't start with anything out there as a "base".

Not really anyone believed him or gave the cams a chance. He didn't hide anything. On the site he gave all the info to the public comparing both specs of the KK's to HKS 272/264's in the same motor. That's something no other cam company does. All I needed was someone who understood the specs to go over them. These are in no way clones of any cam. In fact they were Crower billets (not BC) that FFWD put the profile to. I find it very unfortunate I may have the last of them.

I know it's Easter Sunday but I emailed Darren and asked for the specs of the KK's. I expected him to get back to me maybe Monday or Tuesday. He emailed me back 4 hours later LOL. Great customer service!!! Looking at the specs I can say for sure these are not kelford clones nor delta 280's as they do not have more lift. As stated he gave all the info so it's easy to compare durations @1.0mm and @.050 of different cams. Online I went over every dsm/evo cam spec I could find and non were like these. Not even close. Now more than ever I can't wait to see what they do!!!!!

I have to bring this back from the dead LOL. These cams are amazing!!! With the 4r's I had my my shift light set to 9k but While tuning the car Riechen kept mentioning how the aem logs showed he went to 9700rpm and car is just begging to raise rev limit to 10k. Im running 29psi and the Car just keeps pulling! So I want to thank Darren for these bad ass cams. You know you have something good when Reichen says the way the car pulls rev limit could possibly be raised to 11k! 9500 is good for me LOL.

I was keen to get Delta k272's or k280's but they haven't had any billets to grind them. I've been hitting them up for the past 3.5 months, do king kam have anything around kelford 280 size? Do they have a website cause I couldn't find them on Google.

King Kams is not a comany LOL. It's the biggest Cam FFWD offers/offered. As of now i purchased the last set of these cams. They are a bigger than kelford 280's.
