Kill story. 93 MR2 Turbo vs 06 GTO

Saturday April 07, 2007 was a sad sad day for domestic 'muscle' cars as a 2006 Pontiac GTO (Keith) with its whopping 6.0 Liter V8 (LS2) was outran by atleast 8 car-lengths by a 1993 MR2 Turbo (Zach) with 126,000 miles on its stock 2.0 Liter Turbocharged I-4 (3SGTE) and stock clutch and transmission. It is kind of sad that a car with a 6.0 Liter V8 boasting 400 horsepower was outran by a 14 year old car with 1/3 the displacement, over 100k miles on the stock drive-train and nearly all the same modifications to both vehicles.

Both cars had traction issues, but Zach (MR2) came out of the hole alot stronger than Keith (GTO) did immediatly jumping him by about 1 1/2 to 2 car-lengths, Keith then started loosing traction towards the top of 1st gear and nearly fish-tailed increasing Zachs lead. Once traction was regained Keith was all-in the throttle but Zach was still pulling off even after the 1/4 mile was long over with. I'll admit it would have been a better run if both cars would've had drag-radials but for now its MR2-1 and GTO-0. Your car not being ready to race is no one elses fault, it falls under the same category as driver error, a win is a win.

GTO - K&N Cold Air Intake, Custom Exhaust

MR2 - K/O Racing/Custom Exhaust, Custom Water-air Intercooler, Manual boost controller set to ??PSI (Sorry, I have to keep you guessing)

Anyway, it was still a fun night and a good race. Everyone went home safe, there were no hard feelings and nothing was broken... thats a good night as far as I'm concerned.

but if it helps, all racing was done on a closed highway with EMTs on hand.

I think the point were trying to make here is NO KILL STORIES. Its said right in the rules. No street racing stories/kill stories. Your title just throws everyone off if it was a sanctioned race.

My bad fellas. I forgot to mention that my grand-dad is a judge in this little hick town and managed to round up a couple of sherrifs and a emt to let us terrorize the highway real quick. i really wish we couldve gotten more than one run in, but i already had to beg him for what we got.

It was the first run for the MR2 since we first started working on it and its really nice to finally see some results from all the late nights and busted knuckles.

Thats why your freind won the race, 6.0 goats are as fast as fbodies....

GTO would pull from a roll and a stop with a MR2 with those mods

a basically stock GTO without the driver mod versus a modded MR2 and your suprised?

a bone stock GTO with a good driver can get into 13's. can a stock MR2 do that? didnt think so. come again when you want to compare apples to apples.

Your talking about the 5.7 GTO those are mid to high 13 sec cars


6.Os GTOs are low 13s and a handfull did go 12.99

If you are going to post a kill story on a DSM board that doesn't allow kill stories, at least have the common sense to make about a DSM.
