Keyless Entry

Hi guys I'm pretty new to this kinda of stuff. I have a pretty stupid question but I really have no idea. My car has never had keyless entry (that I know of). I was wondering what I'd have to do to make it keyless they're already power doorlocks / windows. Just curious what I would need to make it keyless entry since my keys seem to keep bending when trying to unlock my car.

Here's a question. Do you have a remote, or do you intend to just wave your hand at it to make it lock and unlock remotely?

Hahahaha ^. You need a keyless entry system / or an alarm system with keyless entry....

Call into your local Mitsubishi dealership and give them the VIN, they will be able to look up and see whether or not your car came with keyless entry. If the dealership tells you your car has it, you may still want to do a quick check to make sure the receiver hasn't been removed somewhere down the line (if you take out the plastic lining in the back seat driver's side of the car, you should find the receiver near the rear 6x9 speaker). If both of the above check out, then order yourself some remotes (careful with the Ebay ones, you get what you pay for...), and follow the instructions in this thread:

Ok I am assuming there is no receiver since I didn't see one. Will this come with everything I need since I have no receiver. The Hoffman Group - Autoloc - Autoloc 8-Function Remote Keyless Entry

No problem, glad to help. I'm not sure how good that keyless setup is that you posted, I personally have no experience with it, but so long as the kit contains a receiver, the proper wiring harness (or a good set of instructions), and remotes, it should be fine. Do some research before purchasing anything though, a quick search through amazon has brought up a few different options for about half the price of the kit you posted. I have no experience with any of these, and am not endorsing them in any way, but am posting a few just as an example for you:

Make double sure you need to order a whole kit like that though, the stock Mitsubishi keyless entry module (receiver) looks like this (link is to pic on DSM Graveyard's website):

...and to get to it, just take the bottom of the back seat out of the car (real easy to remove, just pull the two handles and out it comes), and use a screw driver to remove the panel on the driver's side (should only be a couple of screws). Look between the seatbelt and the rear speaker, if it's on the car, it should be right there and easy to spot.

Like I said, call a local dealership too (better if you can call the actual dealership that sold the car new, but any Mitsubishi dealership will have access to the records), have the parts and service guys run a VIN check to see if your car ever had it (never hurts to be absolutely sure, and it's best to have all the available information before you go spending any money, especially when the information is easy to get and free). These cars possibly came with two different types of keyless entry, one was installed at the factory, one that the dealerships could install after the car had been delivered to them...they function exactly the same, but the remotes were different. eBay will be your best bet. I found an entire used Viper 5002 for $50 when the brain in my Viper 5000 died. You can go to your local junkyard and look for cars with red and blue leds, if they do, then you can start looking for an alarm brain and cut the harnesses with about 6" of extra wiring to use it.
