kelford 264 or 272

So my 6bolt engine is almost complete. It consists of a 94mm eagle stroker crank Eagle H beam rods 150mm Manley 9.0:1 pistons 86mm Composit head gasket

The head I got used but its slightly ported and has 1mm over valves Upgraded springs Titanium retainers

So its like a 2.16l with a 1.596 rod:stroke ratio. Because of this, I don't think I'm going to rev over 8k. It's most likely going to have a greddy 18g with ported stock manifolds hks bov fmic 550cc rc's I want a nice full power band. I want a car that's fun to drive in ny. I have heard great things about the kelford cams. I also heard the run larger than other cams in the same class. So here is the question.

Will the 264/260 kelford camshaft combo be a better choice than 274 cams for my goal?

18g not that big of turbo, and reving over 8 grand revs um ya. You will need bigger injectors first and kelford 272 are just fine. So I would start checking out what people run to see what kinda power you wanna push. Don't skimp out but don't buy the wrong parts you won't be happy with..

"18g is not that big"
And a kelford 264 is not that big of a cam. But this is a street car an most every shift is going to be between 3-4k rpm. I don't want a cam that takes anything away from that . I want one that's going to add to it.

I have looked at other cars. Here is one I found interesting.

Notice the Injectors.

Injectors I have already and will start with them. I know there small.
18g spools fast and outflows a 16g

With the slightly added displacement and a quick spooling turbo the mid range between the 272 and the 264 would be extremely close. What you might think about doing is running a 264 exhaust cam with a 272 intake cam because of the small turbine housing on the 18g and the added displacement.

Hey john, would that combo also be great for my stockblock auto? Not looking to rev over 8k but just wondering if itd be good for a street/strip setup on the stock TC? Not really wanting to lose too much down low. Will be running a tdo5hr 20g on it.

The combo is not a bad idea. The tx264 part number comes with a 264 I and a 260 e. However I was considering the kelfords because they are said to be bigger than hks or similar cam in the same size. Honestly I looked for a while but couldn't find a dyno comparison that included the tx264 let alone the combo you mentioned. The kelford 272 dyno sheet showed no loss in power and tester commented on how smooth idle was.

If anyone can point me to a kelford 264 or 264/272 combo chart I would appreciate it.

Now also considering this cam.

GSC Power-Division S1 cams for the Mitsu Evo 1-3 and first and second Gen DSM cars. The S1 cams are designed for those running a small 16G or large 16G turbo. These cams will not sacrifice any bottom end loss over stock cams; nothing but gains and will promote faster spooling of the turbo. Gains of 15-25whp (depending on Turbo) have been seen by simply bolting the S1 cams in.

Designed for a rev range of 3000-8000rpms, these cams work well on the stock valve springs. 250-400whp camshaft Idle is slightly rougher

S1 Specs: Intake 265 Duration 10.60mm peak lift, 107 degree Centerline Exhaust 265 Duration 10.40mm Peak Lift, 113 degree Centerline

Sounds great, anyone have first hand experience?
