Who else is actually running a Kaaz LSD in there FWD DSM? I noticed another post stating similar problems I am having with a chatter while turning. I use the term chatter loosely as it I can feel it shake the car is the clutches catch and release. I did the proper 1/2 hour figure-eight BS that they recommend and I am running Kaaz LSD fluid. Is this just something we are suppose to live with on the street? Guess quaife is truly the more streetable LSD:confused:. If i would have know it would be this bad I would have probably just tried welding my diff.:sneaky: I only have about 20-25 miles on the LSD so maybe it will get better. Or maybe I'll break something.

It will get better the more you drive . you could also do more figure eights It will break in quicker.

I am dealing with the same thing. I might as well have a spool in it. I have about 300 miles on mine now, and I am still wishing I would have spent a little extra and bought the quiafe.

Do you actually own one or know someone who does?

I was just surprised I didn't know more about this from reading on tuners.

We have KAAZ diffs in just about all of our road race porsches (they have a rear mounted transaxle) and they never stop chattering, it's pretty much normal, the only way to stop it is to run it too loose or half burn it up, and even then it will still chatter. It will calm down a bit after 2-300 miles, but like all the other little things wrong with DSM's we learn to live with it. I got the Quaiffe only because the KAAZ rep said if i was EVER going to launch my car on slicks i'd break their diff and they told me to buy quaiffe.

But it's normal and yes you'll have to live with it. Don't be upset though, KAAZ makes a great diff!!!!!!

Well I plan to launch on slicks...so we'll see how that goes. Why would they recommend not to launch on slicks? I would think thats why 85% of DSM'er would buy one.

The rep at Kaaz and he said that they break exactly where the stockers do if you launch em hard a few times. He said if i was going to do ANY launching or drag racing to get his competitor's LSD because theirs wouldn't take the load repeatedly.

I wasnted the KAAZ for price and for the fact that i know how they perform and how to set them up, rebuild them etc... If you're going to be doing some drag racing you might try and sell it as barely used and spend the extra to get teh Quaiffe. OR if there's a warranty on it just don't tell them you launched it, just say you power shifted and she went LOL

The reason i called them direct is that RRE acted as if they didn't want my money. I told them to call me as soon as they got a diff in stock and i'd give them a credit card number right then, i even called back several times to check on the progress with no positive results, they just kep making excuses.. SO i bypassed teh "middle-man" and got me a Diff elsewhere

Well i've launched(with slicks) on my stock diff many times without breaking it, so I would think the LSD would hold up.

That was what i tried telling the guy too, but since i hadn't bought yet, i kinda got spooked about blowing something i couldn't afford to do twice and spent the extra cash on teh quaiffe. Plus the Quaiffe unit was available faster adn i needed my car back on the road fast, as it's my DD.

I think you'll be fine, but i would be a little conservative if i were AWD and slip the hell out of the clutch on the launch, FWD has enough weight transfer off (especailly in a 2g) to let the slicks spin pretty easy.. He may have been speaking more on AWD's but really didn't elaborate, just kept insisting.

Makes sense, like most any other mod, I researched first to make sure I wasn't buying a crap product. I'm only posting this so other know what to expect. I will also be updating the thread if things change. Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.

I had a NISMO lsd in the rear end of my 180sx. Its also a clutch type lsd. The chatter was freakin horrid, I hated every minute of daily driving that car. Worked awesome for getting sideways though.

Did 7 launches with slicks on the LSD. held up just fine.

Now that I've had the LSD in the car for over a month and put about 5,000 miles on it, I'm starting to enjoy it more. Like most other mods it can take a while to get use to. I basically only notice the chatter now in parking lots and lower speed corners. I also love the fact that I get no wheel hop on the street! Unfortunately, I still plan to part ways with the FWD and save up for something newer.
