Hey,
I am looking for the K&N filter part number that will directly fit on the turbo without hitting anything. Post pics and a part number please.
Thanks,
DongeR

What are you going to do about the MAS that is in the intake system?....

It's not wise to put one directly on the turbo because as hot as it get's normal driving or "spirited" driving then you could run the risk of burning up that filter or melting the rubber/plastic on the filter and sucking it into the turbine... That ranks high on my list of sounds I don't want to hear.

Do you really want to be pulling in all the hot air from the mani/exhaust housing/ o2 area?

I already know of the consequences.

I agree with everyone here, it hasn't been done for a reason.

It has been done and people did post pictures. It has been a long time since I’ve seen anymore of the pictures. The people who have done it may have sold their dsm’s.

At least get a straight pipe from home depot and bring the filter up to the front of the car so it will get more cold air. BTW if you pull in hot air you know that you have a MUCH higher chance of pre-detonation (knock), right?

yeah dont do it man...get a universal k and n and make a cold air, thats what i did and it took an extra 5 minutes....i used an old ricer intake i had on my 95 but go get some exhaust bends...like a 90 or a 45 and paint it and put the filter on the end of that...youll be much happier....you dont want it that close to the exhaust

I figure you have your reasons to want to put your filter on your turbo and not use an intake pipe. Those reasons are your business, so I won't tell you why you should or should not do it. Your best bet is to go and measure the inlet on your turbo and then the maximum amount of room you have towards the frame. You can then go to a K&N dealer and they will get out their spec book and make something work. They usually need 3 measurements total, inlet size, length (from grommet where it connects to turbo to the top of the cone) and the diameter of the base of the cone. All I would do is get a tape measure and find out what the maximum width and lenght you can fit in that area, you can then match something up that is a little smaller but at least you have a ball park.
